Review: Artdeco Eyeshadow Base +DIY Eyeshadow Primer

Review: Artdeco Eyeshadow Base
Color neutral, nourishing eyeshadow base
The Eyeshadow Base with a soft, creamy consistency prevents the deposition of eyeshadow in the eyelid crease and makes the powder eyeshadows highly long-lasting, intense and brilliant. The eyeshadow is being applied easier, distributed better and lasts longer. This way, little particles cannot become loose, making it ideal for contact lens wearers. The base calms reddened eyelids with bisabolol and neutralizes the color of the eyelid. Vitamin E nourishes and protects the sensitive skin of the eyes. Suitable for all kind of eyeshadows. Free from animal ingredients.

This is my first ever eyeshadow primer. This costs around 400-500 Php. The jar is pot itself is really small (just 5ml) and seems as if it would not last me for a month but a little goes a very long way. The color is shimmery muted beige when applied. This has a strong scent (reminds me of insect repellant.. but i love the scent! haha ) Perhaps it is half the price of the infamous Urban Decay Primer, Artdeco eyeshadow base is a very good alternative. If you want your eyeshadow to last on you the whole day, this product is to go for. It makes my eyeshadow look more vibrant and a bit more shimmery (but nothing disco ball or anything just the right amount of shimmers). The downside of this e/s base is that it dries quickly which makes it very hard to blend. I have to redo the routine over again (which is quite frustrating). Overall, this product is actually good. However, I will not repurchase this again anytime soon because I want to try other primers.

Tips in using this product: Just apply the right amount. Never apply too much because it would cake easily.Spread thinly and quickly all over lid to get best results.

Due to the impending death of my artdeco eyeshadow base, I decided to make my own eyeshadow primer from the stuffs that I own. I decided to do my own concoction. haha I decided to add a bit my revlon colorstay foundation because of its oil control and long wearing properties (you could use other liquid foundation of your choice, just make sure it is either waterproof or long wearing). I also added missha bb boomer for better adhering factor. And I added my careline eyeshadow stick in platinum. For those who are in the Philippines, this product is a very cheap alternative for e/s base. I love the fact that this stick is shimmery and sticky but I would like to lessen that whitish cast when applied (due to its color). Add just a little amount of foundation. Make sure that it is not too runny to keep that right amount of consistency. Mash and mix all the products. I think that you could do your own concoctions like mixing ELF shimmering facial with a waterproof foundation.

^using my home made primer

^it seems as if that on the picture there is no difference with the home made primer and the artdeco base. In actual, the artdeco base is a bit more shimmery.

The Rub Test
I did a rub test on the eyeshadows and the winner is still artdeco. It did not even smudge even a tinge! amazing. The home made e/s primer faded.

  7. oh this is an swesome post! the homemade base is very good! but that artdeco is fantastic! i think my UDPP doesn't do as good job as your Artdeco judging from the pic.

i may try the concept of your homemade base. but i don't have revlon stuff so i may just whip up something similar. :)

  10. Great tip sis! One blogger mentioned that we can use a cream concealer as an eyeshadow primer. You just have to dust it off with a finishing powder. I haven't tried it yet though. Waa, matagal ko ng hinahanap yang Careline eyeshadow stick. Laging wala yung platinum. BTW sis, ano na pala ginawa mo dun sa Avon Fresh Radiance Makeup Base mo? I am thinking how I can use it eh. I tried using it on my face but it just made my face oilier.

  11. Thanks for the tip on making your own eye shadow primer! I love UD Primer Potion but what seems just as good for me at the moment are the MAC Paint Pots.
