The MAC Rebel Dupe: Wet n Wild Megalast Lipcolor in Sugar Plum Fairy

Lips take center stage! This 4-hour, longwearing lip color leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn't cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.

I was into  Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks years ago. Just peachy and Mauve Outta Here were my favorites. I bought mine for only 75-80 pesos I think. I cannot exactly remember. I was surprised to see the price of Wet n Wild at our local counters. This lipstick itself costs 299 pesos! I was looking for a purplish dark lipstick for quite some time now. I bought the ELF Gypsy lipstick before but it was not too dark. I even thought of buying a plum lip liner to satisfy my lemming. Then, I heard about this lipstick. It was a blog review that made me bought this lipstick.

I personally do not own the MAC REBEL but I have have heard a lot of raves about it. Being the frugal person that I am, I would settle for the dupe except if the product is totally worth my moolah. Further, I do not use the bold colors all the time because it emphasize my pouty lips. Haha (conscious lang kasi I am not an Angelina Jolie noh!!haha)
Sugar Plum Fairy

The shade reminds me a lot of the Barbie Movie! Have you watched that? My little sister and I love that movie.. hehe The lipstick packaging is ok. However, I have two lippies from this line before that broke. The lipstick itself together with its base was detached from the outer packaging.  (I do hope you get what I mean)
Also, the lipstick is sticking out so I have to be extra careful in putting the cap.
The upper part of my lipstick was scraped off when I forgot to placed back the cap properly and securely.

This lipstick can be really drying. Thus, applying a good lipbalm is a must. Also, I gently scrub the dry parts off my lips with a towel to soften my lips.
To achieve this shade, I applied two-three layers of this lipstick.

The color is a beautiful dark plum shade leaning toward the purple shade. It is not matte per se because this has a pearlescent effect. In my opinion, the color is very flattering on any skin tone. I have a yellow and warm tone and this worked for me really well. If you have dark lips like me, you will love this lipstick too. The pigmentation is beyond compare.   I  can use this alone without any lipliner.   The color is very buildable and the color intensity is controllable.  I can apply it by patting the lipstick on my lips to achieve that soft hint of color. I can layer it to achieve a sultry dark look.  The shade is very versatile.  I can use this day or night. Either you'll walk in the park or party at a girl's night out, this lipstick is a must have because of its shade. :)

If you are more of neutral kind of girl, then, this shade is definitely not for you.

I like to use it with a balm rather than a gloss.  A good lip balm can create that right amount of sheen but a gloss would definitely highlight the boldness of the lip color. I also love the fact that this does not bleed or smear easily. If I would have the chance to choose between Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks from NYX Matte lipstick, Round Lipstick, Soft Matte Lipcream or the Black Label one, Wet N Wild wins on my score card. I always have that fondness for matte lipstick. This explains my biased opinion. haha  Also, this does not have a funky or  weird scent at all. The longevity of this lipstick is fairly good. It lasts for more than four hours on my lips without eating or drinking.
Over all this product is so worth it!

Let's do a recap!

What I love about this Lipstick:
The shade is exquisite!
The pigmentation is AHHH mazing
The color is buildable.
No funky scent.
Long lasting

What I dislike about this lipstick:
The Philippine price vis-a-vis the US Price is markedly disproportionate.
Drying on the lips

The lipstick is waxy
I honestly want to buy new shades and I plan to buy the old ones I already tried.

Godbless!

  8. Yeah this has been the known dupe for Rebel. I tried swatching them both. But I really love Rebel 'cause it's not drying although this is a pretty good alternative if you're just going to run an errand or something. Love your posts! :)
