Yabu: House of Katsu Experience + Giveaway

I have been a food lover even before I got hooked with makeup and blogging. BF and I have been eyeing at Yabu resto for months now. I told him and let's try this Yabu. A lot of bloggers have already eaten here perhaps I should try it too. Haha Also, everytime I pass by this resto, it was always jam packed with people. Now, this made me more curios about Yabu.  We kept on deferring eating at Yabu. I really don't know why. Last week, I got an email from Ms. Anjelica for a Yabu Treat. All I could say when I read her email was "FINALLY!" I was so excited to try out Yabu that I immediately made a reservation two-three days thereafter.
The interiors of the restaurant was Japanese inspired of course. It was very clean and simple.

I love how these manga/animer drawings  hung on the wall to add fun to the minamalist designed interiors.

The ambiance was cozy primarily because of the yellow lights which gave warmth to the entire place. I do find the table a bit small especially for their humongous Katsu sets. The service was very fast and they assisted us very nicely. The waiter was even thoughtful enough to tell us the different condiments on the table.

Now let's go to the best part of my Yabu Experience! The food of course!

I asked the waiter what is their best seller. He immediately pointed to Kurobuta.
Kurobuta Pork Set
3/4 inch cutlet made from rosu or pork with a trimming of fat. Kurobuta, also known as the Black Berkshire pig, is the world's finest pork. It is called the kobe beef of pork, due to its rich marbling, softness, and flavor.
I had a bad experience with pork tonkatsu before from another resto. They served me raw tonkatsu. The breading was cooked beautifully into golden brown however the  pork was still raw. Also, I noticed that most katsu's I have tried before have thicker breading and the pork was just a very thin slice.
Yabu did not disappoint me. Indeed! Kurobota is no doubt their best seller. The pork was very tender despite its thickness. The meat was very juicy and it was cooked perfectly (imo). I also noticed that it was not too oily considering the fact that it was cooked through deep frying method. (Am I right in saying that their katsu are cooked in this manner? hehe)
Chicken and Seafood Katsu Set
Chicken, black tiger prawn, squid, oyster, eggplant and pepper
Bf enjoyed his Chicken and Seafood Katsu Set that looked so big compared to my Kurobuta. My younger brother who is quite notorious for his big appetite was no match for Yabu's Chicken Katsu. He immediately got full and he sternly warned me that he'll be back to Yabu to devour more of their katsu!
The katsu sets were all served with unlimited rice and cabbage with a side serving of fruits, pickles and miso soup.
There are two cabbage dressings. Both mayo garlic dressing and vinaigrette were great but I like the mayo more.
I think this is one of the most popular Yabu experience - making your katsu sauce.
Can I just say that their rice was by far the best I have ever tasted!!! I ate three servings because it tasted so good and it boosted my appetite even more. My Yabu experience was delightful and extremely satisfying. No highfalutin or flowery words needed. It was love at first bite! :)
