It Feels Like My Birthday Post

I came home from an appearance from the fiscal's office a while ago. Instead of proceeding back to the office I went home instead to get something. Luckily, the courier arrived with a parcel. I was expecting a parcel from Anna of  The Makeup Suite (this is a new online shop and her sister is the owner of the famous Starmaine Shop) but I did not expect that her sister, Charmaine of Starmaine Cay  Shop ( I hope you remember this shop I featured before with Lime Crime, NYX and Barry M Products)  added more stuff! I felt like a kid opening a present on her birthday!! Look at that Milani Coralina!! The Z palette looks so pretty.. Now I am thinking of buying single shadows from Etude and from Nyx! waah I was just contemplating on buying an Avon Lipstick (the new one being endorsed by Anne because of the red lipstick) but I was sent this Lime Crime Retrofuturist which is one of the most beautiful red shade I have ever seen. Thanks a lot Anna and Charmaine. Thank you so much for believing in my blog. As in super..
Watch out for a giveaway from The Makeup Suite coming in a few minutes or hours?? haha Just wait!!

Yummy Cravings + Beauty and Butter Spa Giveaway Winners

I love eating. Food is my first love aside from makeup. Haha.. This is the reason I gained a lot of weight. I clearly remembered that I can eat 3-4 cups of rice in high school and college without even gaining a pound! Wow! Now, I need to control every food I take. I have been looking for a red velvet cake. I always see one in food bazaars but I had no particular store/bakeshop to go to whenever I crave for it. Whether it be red velvet cake or cupcake as long as may red velvet sa name. Haha I want one. Please tell me where's the best red velvet cake in town?
I am cutting down on rice and I am trying hard to resist cupcakes! I saw these cute cupcakes in the Best Food Forward Bazaar. BF and I just went there because we to try some good food. Aren't these angry birds cupcakes look adorable? I remembered Sonja's cupcakes that were served at the Benefits Salon event. It tastes like heaven! Any recommendation on where to buy delish cupcakes aside from Sonja's? I can't find a shop near my place.

I got one of this in red velvet. Haha

Those mouthwatering goodies. Hayy.
I got this in Belgan King. And they taste awesome. Ok. From this post you can now conclude I love desserts especially cakes or pastries. I am not an ice cream person. There you go. A day in the life of a sweet tooth. I do not normally eat tons of sweets like these in one sitting but this particular day was an exception. hehe How can you resist these?

Beware: Photo Theft

My eyes are being sold for thirty pesos or you could buy it now for 50 pesos! Any takers?

When taking photos for my blog, it takes me more than an hour. I can take hundred of pictures and the process of picking the pictures to be posted and watermarking them or adjusting the colors to exactly suit the shade can take forever.

Lately, I realized that photo theft online has become exceedingly alarming. The other day, I read Kris Bacani's post. Read it here: http://krisandmakeup.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/on-plagiarism-practice-pakikisama-and-an-apology-gone-wrong/#comments

Yesterday, Rann (an avid reader of my blog and a friend) alerted me that an online shop used one of my photos. I was used to it. Then an idea came to my mind. I started researching for pictures online and found more seller using my photos. I suddenly felt used, abused and outwitted by them. I got tired of searching online because I have seen more than enough. Enough that convinced me to write this post and to take a firm stand on this issue.

It is very frustrating to see people make money online and take credit for something they do not even deserve. All they do is just copy paste cut and post. Some even have the guts to erase watermarks on photos. I have been blogging for years now and I knew that my pictures are being used by some resellers of NYX online. Back then, I felt that it was a compliment rather than a random act of stealing that made me feel proud that they are using my pictures. To my mind. they are using it because they see my pictures as aesthetically pleasing to them and to their  buyers. I thought that through my pictures my blog/website will go viral. Then, I discovered "watermarking" in simple language, it is placing your name or your website's url to distinctly note that such picture is yours. I thought that this was the answer to my prayer. With my website's name on my pictures, everyone would know my blog.  Who am I kidding? Myself,alone. As years pass by, there are countless of instances where watermarks on my photos would get erased or obliterated. Where's the credit that I deserved? The hours I spent pouting until my lips could look more plump than usual deserves a simple thank you or a percentage of  the seller's sales. I supposed a lot of people will tell me that's the price of putting your photos online. As I have mentioned before, I am very appalled that there are hundreds and thousands of people who think that everything they see online whether it be videos, pictures or articles are for free. Anything that are capable of appropriation in the internet cannot be owned by another by  merely click of copy and save.  These are the pieces of evidence that I have gathered. There are still a lot.
This is copyright infringement at its finest.

According to the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines (IP CODE for brevity) Sec. 172, to wit:

Sec. 172. Literary and Artistic Works. -
    172.1 Literary and artistic works, hereinafter referred to as "works"are original intellectual creations in the literary and artistic domain protected from the moment of their creation and shall include in particular:
      (a) Books, pamphlets, articles and other writings;
      (b) Periodicals and newspapers;
      (c) Lectures, sermons, addresses, dissertations prepared for oral delivery, whether or not reduced in writing or other material form;
      (d) Letters;
      (e) Dramatic or dramatico-musical compositions; choreographic works or entertainment in dumb shows;
      (f) Musical compositions, with or without words;
      (g) Works of drawing, painting, architecture, sculpture, engraving, lithography or other works of art; models or designs for works of art;
      (h) Original ornamental designs or models for articles of manufacture, whether or not registrable as an industrial design, and other works of applied art;
      (i) Illustrations, maps, plans, sketches, charts and three-dimensional works relative to geography, topography, architecture or science;
      (j) Drawings or plastic works of a scientific or technical character;
      (k) Photographic works including works produced by a process analogous to photography; lantern slides;
      (l) Audiovisual works and cinematographic works and works produced by a process analogous to cinematography or any process for making audio-visual recordings;
      (m) Pictorial illustrations and advertisements;
      (n) Computer programs; and
      (o) Other literary, scholarly, scientific and artistic works.
    172.2. Works are protected by the sole fact of their creation, irrespective of their mode or form of expression, as well as of their content, quality and purpose.  [Emphasis supplied]

    From the moment I published my photos online, my works are protected. This fact is underscored by the IP Code. However, upto what extent am I protected? I have never heard of a case on photo theft or infringement of photos in the Philippines to date.

    Some of you may tell me that hey, your watermarks are still there. Yes. I know. Sec. 177 particularly subsection 177.1 of the IP Code are enlightening on this matter:

    Sec. 177. Copy or Economic Rights. - Subject to the provisions of Chapter VIII, copyright or economic rights shall consist of the exclusive right to carry out, authorize or prevent the following acts:

      177.1. Reproduction of the work or substantial portion of the work;
    X X X

    I am not trying to sound legalese here (Sarcastic lang). But, my rights are being trampled by these people, almost all of them I am not personally acquainted with. They did not ask for my permission nor even a simple thank you for using my photos. I remember a Sophie Martin seller emailed me that she will use my photos and bluntly ask if she could erase the watermarks on the pictures. Hello?!
Sadly, I am not interested in filing cases for infringement against these people. On second thought, this could probably be a landmark case on this matter.  It could even incite the attention of the legislature on the need to update our IP laws with regard original works published through the internet. This post will serve as a stern warning to those who uses my photos with no permission at all. I have been asked by a few readers of mine if they can use my photos and I gladly say yes. (Emphasis on gladly.. I really appreciate such gesture)

What makes it hard for sellers to do the same?

I also feel sorry for other bloggers whose works are being used without their permission too.

Spread the word.
It is time to educate these people.

Godbless

Review: Neutrogena Fine Fairness BB Cream

Hi everyone!! I am doing this post while watching Walang Hanggan. Yes, I am a teleserye freak. Haha It seems as if time stops inside our house whenever this show is on air. Ohh Everytime I watch Walang Hanggan, the beauty of Dawn Zulueta never fails to mesmerize me. I would always -- ANG GOOOONDDOOO!!!!! Di ba? I bet walang kokontra sa akin.

You've heard me raved about it previously. You have seen me wearing it on pictures. So what's the deal with the Neutrogena Fine Fairness BB Cream.  This review is entirely my honest opinion. I know people will say that it will be biased since these were sent to me for review. Anyways, I have been into the BB Cream craze years ago but my lemming for them died down as I cannot find the right shade for my skin. Admittedly, most BB Creams are suited for those with fair skin and sometimes to those SUPER fair skinned gals. Yay! They always leave that white scary cast on me especially in pictures with flash on. When I received samples of Neutrogena BB Cream, I immediately swatched it at the back of my hand while inside a cab (yes, right after the event.. I swatched it agad). I was dismayed. It looks so light on my skin and it has grayish pink tones. In my mind it was yet another BB Cream fail. The next day, I road tested it and I immediately noticed the scent. It smells so good. It did not stimulate my allergic rhinitis at all.

What Neutogena claims about  its last addition to the Fine Fairness Line, the BB Cream:

About BB Cream

BB Cream, which stands for Blemish Balm, is one of the newest skincare phenomena to hit the market. BB Creams began in Germany as a concealer for post-surgery scars. When Korean actresses started to use BB Creams, a revolution in skincare was born. Known to provide excellent coverage that immediately hides blemishes, the BB Cream has become an essential item for instantly smooth and fair skin.

True to the brand’s commitment of providing women with healthy beauty, the FINE FAIRNESS® BB Cream UV contains naturally-occurring minerals, Mica and Titanium Dioxide. When applied to the skin, these minerals match with the skintone to deliver instant blemish coverage.

Fine Fairness BB Cream
Now, combine the immediate fairness of BB Cream and the in-depth whitening powers of FINE FAIRNESS®. The result? A moisturizer that instantly corrects blemishes and works from within to continuously whiten skin.

The pump bottle is great in controlling the product. All my previous BB Creams were in a tube.

The color reminds me of Missha BB Cream which I reviewed before but this is lighter. I wished that this came in two colors but it only has one shade.

Yes, it does leave a white cast on skin.

I find this BB Cream very lightweight compared to the other brands that I have tried before. The coverage and pigmentation is sheer - light which I am okay with. It does a good job of evening out my skin tone but does not entirely cover my blemishes and dark eye bags. Actually, my eye bags look more prominent whenever I use it alone. The whitish/grayish shade highlights it and I need a concealer to hide it. The shade might intimidate most Pinays but to my surprise this BB Cream blended well with my skin when  topped  off with my foundation or a natural shade of loose powder. Also wait for it to settle and dry and the whitish cast will actually fade. It suits my yellow skin tone but with a noticeable glow.  Make sure not apply the product excessively or you'll end up looking like Marilyn Manson! I have tried applying two pumps on my  face and I look horrendously white. The texture is very blendable and creamy. The texture is thicker than a tinted moisturizer but I do not have any rants on it because it blends nicely. It dries to a slight dewy finish on my dry skin.  I can even recommend it to those with oily skin. I love using it everyday especially this summer. I also observed that it is not that long lasting especially when the weather is too humid and too hot ahem like TODAY!! At the end of a hot day my t zone and cheeks  looks washed out but my eye are (eye lid and under eyes) look matte and lighter than the rest of my face. However, whenever I used it in going to the mall or somewhere colder. It stays on my face longer sometimes even for 4-5 hours without retouching (I have normal to dry skin). I love retouching btw even if  my face does not need any touch ups. Haha Ang arte lang noh?! I experienced no break outs from this BB Cream. I also find it a bit moisturizing (not too much though). My face does not feel tight at all and I guess this is the reason why I love using it everyday. The best thing about it -- it is easily available in the local market. Will I buy it again? Yes. But I still have a back up that could last me for months. Btw, I had this bottle for 3 months and still have not finished up the 30 ml bottle.

It claims that it can whiten you skin after regular use. Did it whiten my face after 2 months? Hmm.. I do not know! Haha I just love to use it everyday because it is lightweight.

What can you say with my first week compared  to my last week update in using this BB Cream? I really do not know if it lightened my face since  the lighting in the photos played a huge factor .

Have you tried this Bb  Cream?
Neutrogena Fine Fairness BB Cream is locally available at leading supermarkets and Watsons branches.
This costs 700 pesos something for a 30 ml bottle.

My beauty pledge will be next. :D

Godbless everyone.

Barry M Lip Paints in Sunset and Pink Ribbon

              Barry M Lip Paints

Hi!!! I am back. Well... Hopefully. I got my first taste of an actual appearance as a lawyer a while at the Prosecutor's office. It was really nothing compared to a court hearing.. but yes.. F na F ako.. In other words, feel na feel ko.. hahaha  It was fun and of course I was perspiring to death because I waited for an hour to be called. Now, thinking over what I did a while ago.. I honestly think that I made some mistakes.. But I need to start learning now. I am loving my job now. Well, this is not rewarding financially but I want experience. I have been remiss in updating this lately. It's definitely hard juggling professional work with blogging. I envy bloggers who have all the time in the world to blog. (HONESTLY!) But lawyering is really my profession, blogging comes next and only as a hobby.

Moving on, I received these lipsticks from Sweety Pink Cosmetics (http://www.sweetypinkcosmetics.com/). Sweety Pink Cosmetics is a local online shop which sells Mememe Cosmetics, Barry M, Beauty UK, Lipcote and a whole lot more. I chose these shades because their swatches look so pretty online! When I swatched them, they looked different than the swatches on the net. Also, I was expecting them to be matte like my Barry M Shocking Pink but these shades have satiny finish.

These shades go on really smooth on the lips and they give that glossy look. It lasts like most normal lipsticks would last on my lips. It can lasts for 3-4 hours without eating on my lips. It is more moisturizing than Barry M's shocking pink which is matte. Compared to NYX Black Label Lipsticks, these lipsticks appear more opaque and a bit more pigmented even with just a swipe.

I made two lip swatches of these lipsticks.

SUNSET

One in natural day light and fluorescent light.
Sunset is a beautiful and rich orange shade with hints of red. It is not too vibrant and intimidating. I have been using it for quite some time now even in the office. It looks so nice on my yellow skin complexion.  This shade is perfect for summer!!!
PINK RIBBON

These photos are taken under natural light and fluorescent light.
It may look like a cool shade of pink but the other swatch shows the closer shade.
 Pink Ribbon is a medium pink shade with very slight rosy undertones.  I thought that it would appear peachy pink on my lips but it looks more pink on me.

What do you think of two tone lipstick? :D
I really love that the shade Sunset showed so beautiful on this picture.

That's it. I will be announcing the winner of the Nanny Rose Summer Loot Bag tomorrow.

Godbless everyone.

A Trip to the Ilog Maria Honeybee Farm + New Winner of the Etude House Ticket

Last Sunday, My best friends in college finally had the time to get together. We went to Tagaytay .The weather in Tagaytay was sunny that day and I was really expecting it be cooler than Manila. I was wrong. Yay! Here are the things I bought from our short trip. They wanted to go to Ilog Maria Honeybee Farm. It was way way back in college when I first tried their lipbalm. All my "LANDZ" (this is the name of our barkada) friends love it so much. :D I was not supposed to buy the lipbalm though because I just bought my second Maybelline Babylips balm which I lost in the office yesterday. I just can't find it on my desk and bag. Anyways, we waited for the balm to be made. It was still warm when I paid for it. Surprisingly, I really really love it. The lipbalm is perfect for our hot weather. It gives my lips a refreshing feel. I just bought it for 65 pesos!! What a steal right? What I love about it is that it does not sting my lips. Have I shared with you that I got allergic to the Kiehl's lipbalm which is also made from beeswax. The Ilog Maria Lipbalm is a muct try!!! The minty feel can lasts for minutes and try drinking cold water after application and you'll feel so refreshed. haha The feminine soap only costs 45 pesos. It also have that refreshing feel but it melts so easily because their soaps do not have artificial hardeners. the lavander soap smells so good.  The other soap is their premium glycerine soap which I am currently using as my facial wash. Like the feminine wash, this easily melts.
So where are the bees?
In here!! BF was the one who opened this because we are all afraid to be stung by the bees.

Their soaps are made from natural ingredients with no artificial hardeners.

They also have the hair oil. My friend updated us that it is good for her curly hair.

This smells so good!!

Visit their online store:
http://www.ilogmaria.com/

The price is slightly higher when you purchase in their site..

I picked a new winner for the Etude House Tickets because I did not receive any email from Kylie. Congrats Jannah!!

Hopefully, I can blog more next week.

Godbless everyone!

I am sorry for the lack of posts . I have been adjusting with my new work and at the same time, I am loving it so much. My heart really belongs to litigation. I feel so motivated waking up in the morning because I now feel that I am a lawyer (LOL).  That's it for now..  Btw, I cave in to my lemming. I finally bought another drawing eye pencil from Etude in Ebay in the shade brown and the Color my Brows Light Brown Brow gel also at Ebay. I asked Etude House if they will have stocks for this and their answer was in the negative. I bought the Brown Gel in Light Brown because they say it is a great dupe for the MAC Boygirl Brow Gel. I super love it.

Godbless everyone!!

Summer Essentials: A Quick Review of Snoe and Belo Sunblocks

HOT!!! Manila is freaking hot today! I cannot even  move a finger without sweating like a pig. Tsk. The sun's heat pricks my skin like hell. I never get out of the house without an umbrella but there are times that I forget to bring one. But one thing I never forget is wearing a sunblock before going out.  I never loved sunblocks until now. Why? I tried using one before and it made my face itch, it clogged my pores like big time and I just feel so uncomfortable wearing it.  Before, I was just too satisfied with wearing a moisturizer with SPF but when I saw my Aunt's cheek with a dark blemish that was due to the harsh rays of the sun, from then on sunblock became a staple to my skin care regimen. I had a hard time finding the right sunblock for me especially for my face and neck area. Let's quickly discuss the basics (only the basics.. I will not go in depth with the details because you can google a lot of information about it) on sunblock first. I know you have seen UVA, UVB and SPF on your sunblock and even your moisturizers. UV stands for Ultra Violet which refers to the harsh rays from the sun. A stands for aging or those particularly referring to cancer causing rays while B stands for burning. UVB are those ultra violet rays that cause immediate effect on the skin like sun burns and can be greatly linked to skin cancer.  SPF means Sun Protection Factor and this only applies to UVB protection. The higher amount of SPF does not mean effectiveness of the sunblock rather how long the sunblock will remain effective or the length of time a person can stay under the sun without burning.

I have super dry skin and it is overtly sensitive at the same time. So what are the sunblocks that worked for me? Scroll down for more.
Snoe Suntervention Serious Sun Protection with SPF 80++
Broad Spectrum UVA/UVA Block
Price: 699 pesos

This was given to me by Snoe Beauty during the Suntervention Bloggers Convention Event. This is one of their newest product launched in time for Summer. The smell and consistency is like a normal sunblock. It is quite thick but creamy. It is very easy to blend and it is absorbed by the skin. It feels light too.I tried using it on my face but I did not like it. I somehow felt a tingling sensation when I used it. My face also felt a bit tighter than usual. This is suitable if you want to go the the beach or to the pool. A tube has a shelf life of two years from manufacturing date. I experienced no itching or any other break outs when I used this.

Like most sunblocks, it gives that ghostly white cast when worn.
Snoe Here Comes The Sunblock
Instant White with SPF 45
with Sigmkamas
Price: 199 pesos

Another Sunblock from Snoe Beauty. This is a paraben free product. I bought this because a lot of bloggers are raving about it. They say that it instantly whitens the skin. I did not believe them so I bought one for myself to see if it is true. Haha Indeed, it gave my skin instant whitening. It does not look fake at all but my skin looks fairer and glowing. I can use this everyday because it is light on the skin and it feels like a lotion on my skin. the texture and consistency of this lotion is very runny. It is not greasy at all and it is absorbed by my skin easily. On top of that, it has a nice scent to it.This is definitely a must try. Also, this is very affordable too. It only costs 199 pesos for a 100 ml bottle.

See how it made my skin a bit lighter. The key is to blend the product well on your skin to avoid the whitish streaks.

Belo Essentials Sun Expert
SPF  40 PA +++ for the FACE
UVA/UVB Broad Spectrum
Price: 299 pesos

Out of the three sunblocks, this is my absolute favorite. This is already my second bottle. I am absolutely in love with it. It is non comedogenic and hypo allergenic.  It does not have that funky sunblock smell at all. It is actually fragrance free and since I have allergic rhinitis, this is definitely a plus point. This is not sticky or greasy at all. No tingling or stinging feel when applied on the face. It is very very lightweight (emphasis on this!!). I could layer this without fear of looking like a grease ball at mid day. I use it on my face everyday! This is an indispensable part of my skin care regimen. The consistency and texture is creamy and airy. It blends so well on my face even without moisturizer.  I want to try the one for the BODY which slightly costs higher than this. Will I buy this again? YES! Definitely! I highly recommend this sunblock to everyone.

Another plus point about this sunblock -- NO WHITE CAST!

These sunblocks are the ones I am currently using. What sunblock are you using to protect your skin from sun damage? God bless everyone.
Disclaimer: These products are suitable to my skin and which works for me might not work for you or vice versa. The Snoe Here Comes the Sunblock and the Belo Essentials are bought with my own money. The Snoe Suntervention is from Snoe Beauty.
