Dazzle Perfume by Paris Hilton

Dazzle is a new fragrance by Paris Hilton, presented in 2012 as a floral – fruity fragrance that “expresses Paris' whimsical side, revealing her inner beauty – dazzlingly and charming without the need for bling”.
"Give me a chance to color my world and I colour it pink. A sparkling, sweet, pretty and playful pink, Dazzle, my newest fragrance, is about my world, me and all the different facets of my personality.”, said Paris adding:"I love beautiful jewels and of course, pink diamonds are a favorite, but feeling dazzling, special and on top of the world isn't about material things, for me, it comes from within.”
The composition opens with notes of pink lady apple, maraschino cherry and peach nectar with violet petals, pink calypso orchid and orange blossom in the heart and the base of vanilla, pink champagne, white patchouli and musk. It is developed by perfumer Frank Voelkl.
The bottle is designed by Henry de Monclin as a round and faceted pink diamond.

I was sent by Prestige Brands this newest perfume from Paris Hilton. The bottle look is befitting for an heiress. The pink bottle is very feminine and the rhinestones just added that much needed glamour. The scent reminds me of candies, fruits with a hint of vanilla. The blend of sweetness makes it a perfect perfume for the Christmas time. This is the kind of scent that warms up my nostrils and makes me feel so girly (which I am honestly not). Be careful in spraying this perfume. This is a very strong scent and just two pumps can lasts you the whole day. Make sure you spray 7-10 inches away from your body to ensure that the scent is properly distributed.

The first time I tried it on, my sister hurriedly asked me what is the perfume I used and she a meter away from me. I was like "wow, this perfume is potent!hehe" My little sister loved the scent and she forgot about Taylor Swift's wonderstruck and enchanted perfume when she smelled this. I love to use this on cold days especially in an air conditioned room.
Even the cap of this perfume screams Paris Hilton.. :)

You know the best part of this perfume, the free studded white watch!
It's so gorgeous right??

Here are the prices:

Php1950  for  30ml
Php2600 for 50ml
Php3350 for 125ml

Thank you Prestige Brands for this perfume!!

Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara Review

This latter part of this year is a mascara craze for me. I received three mascaras from K-Palette and Fairy Drops.I bought this Revlon mascara because of the good reviews from US bloggers. Also,  I was really curious with the 3D Volume thingy. Plus, the fact that this mascara came from the Photoready line made it more interesting.
In the Philippines, this mascara costs 750 pesos. I was shocked to learn this. I told myself  that this must be worth every penny if it costs this much. Well, I did not buy this at the local counters. I am not that dumb to spend 750 pesos when I can buy it at more than half the price. I got this on ebay for 300 pesos with shipping. I have it blackest black.

This mascara has a wet formula. As you all know, I veer away  from mascaras with wet formula because they tend to weigh down my lashes. Surprisingly, this mascara has a good curling quality. Most of the time, I use it alone without the need of curling my lashes. It can hold the curl for about 3-4 hours or  even more. The pigmentation is good but not as incredible as the L'oreal Volumious Carbon Black. Please refer to my review of L'oreal Mascara here.

This mascara separates my lashes really well but it does not give my lashes my desired volume with just two-three coats. The problem with this mascara is that 5-6 coats can definitely make my lashes clump. I have to be really careful in applying this to avoid clumping and it just takes a lot of time in my makeup routine. Clumping issue aside, this does a good job of lengthening my lashes. HOwver, I do not like using this mascara on my lower lashes. It just make my lower lashes look like spider legs which is too unnatural for everyday wear. I ain't gonna sport a Twiggy look on a daily basis you know. This mascara can be easily removed with soap and water or makeup remover.
The bristles  of the brush does a good job of separating my lashes but I fin the bristles too stiff. To the point that I could not even apply this mascara close to my lash line because the bristles tends to poke my lash line like crazy. This is the first time I have such an experience this with a mascara brush. Also, I noticed that the wand does not pick up the product fairly well. Most of the time, I need to scoop out the product using the tip of the wand. Well, the mascara brush is not that bad because it can apply the product really well on hard to reach areas like the lashes in the inner corner of the eyes.

Here is a before and after shot using this mascara:
Without mascara
With Revlon Photoready 3D Volume
It did a great job of lengthening and separating my lashes.

Do I love it?
No. I gave it about two weeks and I just gave up on it. I really wanted to make it work but sadly, it did not. I think that it will suit people with thicker lashes but not those with sparse lashes like mine.

Have you tried this mascara?
Share your thoughts on the comment box please.:)

Currently, I am using Fairydrops mascara. I have to admit I love it! It is definitely HG material. Review coming soon. :)

Godbless everyone.

Pinkies Collections: Eyebrow Cake Review, Photos and Swatches

Did you know that Jes Roque of has the most beautiful brows that I have ever seen?  Whenever I see her, I can't help but stare on her brows with awe and pure envy. Hahaha I have always been frustrated with my brows. I have tried a lot of tricks and products. Most are hits but some are misses. Anyways,  I ran out of my K-Palette Lasting 2 Way Eyebrow (which I super love). Check my review here:  I was supposed to get a K-Palette's but I ended up buying this eyebrow cake. This brand is Pinkie Swear, a sister company of James Cooper.  Whenever I go Watsons or SM Department Stores, I can't help but notice this brand and James Cooper. They have loads of affordable and promising products lately. Btw, Thanks to Ohitsandee of youtube for featuring this product. :) I could not curtail my excitement to share with you my review of this product. Here it is:

Pinkies Collection Eyebrow Cake in  EBC-03
Price: 169 Pesos
Weight: 3 grams
Available in SM Department Stores and Watsons Branches

This eyebrow cake comes in three shades to choose from. I got EBC-03 with two shades that is perfect for my eyebrow color. It contains a muted pale brown and a medium taupe color. The finish of this eyeshadow is sheer matte. The color is very buildable and with a wet angled brush, you get gorgeous pigmentation. The texture of this eyebrow cake is quite hard. Also, this is not too powdery and this blends perfectly on my brows. I could use the light brown of the taupe on its own and the shade just look so natural. I use this with my Marionnaud  Spoolie with Angled Brush. This is best used with wet application. I just use normal water or water with Glycerine. Whenever I use this in the office or some place where there is no water in sight, I use Visine drops.  For a very affordable product, Can I just say that this is extremely amazing especially if used with James Cooper Eyebrow Gel in Frosted Brown. This lasts almost whole day  (whole day means office hours haha) on me to be exact for like 6-8 hours without retouching. The clean and sharp edges may blur at the end of the day but the color per se is still intact. My only rant is the packaging. The lid cover is not sturdy at all. I only have this for  two weeks and I am afraid the lid cover will be detached anytime soon. Waahh!
This eyebrow cake applies smoothly  even with dry application.
For busy people, I do not recommend this eyebrow cake. This takes up 10 minutes of my makeup routine. I know a lot of you will say "ang tegel nemen 10 mins!" Exag! However, it is the truth. If you have untamed brows like I do and you want that perfect shape and arch, the process can get really tedious. Plus, I just don't fill my brows, I draw  my brows (literally)! I apply the light brown on the inner brows for that natural look and on the the middle and on the tail, I use the taupe shade for a sharper and cleaner look.

My untamed brows.
What do you think with my drawn arch? hihi

Ohh wait let me give you a sneak peek of another brow product that I am currently in love with:
Thank Iya Boto for the review!! Were it not for your review on this product, I will not buy it. I bought two shades of this brow gel. All I can say is forget about Etude House Color My Brows that dries up easily. Try this brow gel and you will definitely love it too. Check out Iyah's review and comparison with MAC Girl Boy:

I am so proud that our local products are getting better and better!

Godbless everyone!

Acne 101: Skin vs. Food

Picture from

This is my second installment of the Truth Campaign. This is a campaign geared towards
clarifying common misconceptions about acne and skin care.

I have often heard about the saying "You are what you eat." For years, I refused to believe in such. I would often defend my eating habits with my skin type. I felt that having dry skin is an excuse for me to develop acne. As years went by, I proved myself wrong. When I went to law school, my eating habit worsened. I would often skip vegetables and  fruits. I fed my brain and tummy with comfort foods (pizza, fried chicken, milk tea, chocolates, junk food etc.) My perception on having dry skin changed especially on days when I was stressed with school. There were a lot of instances where my chin and forehead was bombarded with acne. Also, have you experience having a zit inside your nose? I did!! It took a lot of time for me to realize that my diet and stress were the primordial reasons for my break out. This is based on my personal experience. Also, this is merely based on my personal assessment on my skin.

I researched about the relation of food and acne. Honestly, instead of discovering the truth, I was a bit confused. There are contrasting studies about food and acne. The truth is - The food we eat affects our over all state of health. Clearly, our skin is not excused. The food we eat may not necessarily cause acne per se but it can trigger and aggravate acne. The food we eat affect our hormones, in effect, it can contribute to our oil production and can even affect acne inflammation. Studies can not easily debunk the link between food and its effect on our skin because what we eat is not the only factor that we have to take into consideration. Limiting our intake of fatty foods and dairy can never clear our skin if we do not take care of it. Achieving clear skin is not a one night wonder. There are various factors that need to be considered. These factors are - lifestyle, hygiene, environment, and a lot more. In my case, stress and food are on top of my list.

How do I deal with acne?
I  honestly do not apply topical medicine to lessen the inflammation. My only cure? I really watch out what I eat. Although there is no definitive study pointing food intake with acne, I still watched my diet. I believe that prevention is better than cure. Thus, instead devouring the Milka (chocolate) inside our refrigerator, I would eat my favorite fruits -banana, apple and pears just to satisfy my sweet tooth. I also try my best to incorporate vegetables in my meal. I have to admit that I am not fond of healthy foods but BF (the health conscious one) would always encourage me to stay away from meat and fatty foods. The last time I have an acne breakout was just a month ago and watching what enters my tummy helped a lot.  Also, I drink loads of water. Water has been and will always be my so called beauty elixir. It does not only flush out the toxins in the body but it hydrates my skin making it healthier.
Indeed,a balanced diet and a healthier lifestyle may help a lot in having healthier skin, but acne- free skin requires more than just watching our food intake.
Godbless everyone!

Tony Moly Cleansing Sponge (Made of 100% Natural Konjac Fiber)

100% Natural Konjac Fiber cleans dirt and sebum
Natural mineral makes the skin soft & bright
Natural konjac jelly doesn't hurt the skin but cleans well
Puff texture helps in cleansing uneven surface and removing dead cell as well.

I can never afford a clarisonic and I do not think I will ever spend that much. Unless, someone will give it to me as a gift, I will gladly accept without any inch of hesitation. I have recently read that the Konjac Sponge is a good and  cheaper alternative to Clarisonic. I was very curious about it. I was thinking of buying a Konjac Sponge online but when I passed by at Etude House, I saw a similar sponge being sold as a cleansing puff. I was really hesitant to buy it because the saleslady cannot even tell me if the puff can be use for the face. I researched online and found out that it is similar to the Konjac Sponge I saw online. The next day, I passed by Tony Moly and found this sponge with a label Konjac Sponge. I immediately bought it. This only costs 198 pesos and it looks way bigger than the one from Etude House.

Konjac a a revolutionary vegetable fiber from the Konjac Plant. Honestly, it reminds me of a loofah. The sponge is damp/ moist and look so big upon opening. I have been using this for a month now and I am quite impressed. It feels so soft and gentle on the skin. I initially thought that this will not work and using a facial scrub or a wash cloth is better. However, I noticed that it effectively lessened my dry patches and made my skin look healthier and smoother. I can instantly see the glow and radiance on my skin after every use.  This sponge can be used alone or with a facial cleanser. I use this with my Physiogel Cleanser and I usually use it in the morning.

When dried, the sponge turns smaller and harder just like a loofah.
Before using this, make sure to soak in warm water to soften the sponge. After use, press the sponge between your palm and do not ever wring. Mine got a bit dilapited because I did not know this. This sponge can last upto 1 to 2 months depending on use. This comes with a small thread that can be use to hang the sponge after every use to dry.

Over all, I am very pleased with this sponge. I am planning to try other sponges. I am hoping to find the original Konjac Sponge at the Super Sale bazaar soon.
Godbless everyone!

What's New? Papulex, Fairy Drops and K-Palette

Hello MLI Readers!! I have been super busy for the last two weeks. I will try blogging as often as I could. I got these products from the mail last week. I can't wait to blog about these goodies. I know I have been mia most of the time in the blogging world but I am finally learning how to cope with my new super busy schedule. I have a handful of products to review and mostly are products that I bought with my own money.
Great news! Fairydrops has finally arrived in Manila. I have heard about this brand from Eki, the pretty blogger and Youtube guru, a year or two years ago. I was in awe watching her review about Fairydrops BB Cream. The coverage look so nice and full. I received this package from Cheryl and she was kind enough to send me Fairydrops and K-Palette mascara. Thank you Cheryl!!

Are you also intrigued with the name of this mascara? 1 day Lash Perm is so enticing don't you think? The fact that it is from K-Palette makes it more special for me. I was introduced to the K-Palette brand this year and I must say that all the products I have tried are absolutely great!
Papulex is a new brand in the market. This brand is targeted for people with acne prone skin. My brother is using the these products and he is surely loving the cleansing gel. He told me that it feels so great on the skin, smells so good and it does not leave his skin dry and tight.

Til' my next blog post! I promise I will try posting the giveaway I have been talking about asap. :)
Have a blessed Sunday!

Acne 101: Nurture vs. Nature

For six weeks, I will be in a "Truth Seeker Campaign" which seeks to clarify common misconceptions about acne and skin care.In general, genes affect our skin characteristics. The skin type and skin color of our parents will likely be the same with ours. Thus, it is also true that skin conditions are hereditary. If your mom and dad have acne, chances are you will develop it too.  This may be referred to as genetic tendencies but this is not 100% certain.  Parents who have clear skin may have children with acne prone skin or vice versa.  Acne per se is not an inherited disease because a lot of factors can trigger its growth. There are a lot of factors that affect our skin condition. This can be categorized into two types: external and internal factors. Internal factor can be traced to our genes while external factors are the environment, our lifestyle, the products we used on our skin, and the food we eat.
Younger, I do not need a dermatologist to know that genes can strongly influence my skin condition. Both me and my mom have dry sensitive skin and with rare circumstances of zit attack. My father, on the other hand, have oily skin.
He developed acne during his mid to late twenties. It was not that severe as compared to my brother.
My brother apparently inherited my father's oily skin. Acne breakout came earlier for my lil bro. He started developing acne in high school. We all thought that it was just a phase but it went on for years until now. The worst part was he did not treat his acne immediately.

The truth is we must learn to live with our skin conditions whether it be acne prone or dry skin. Wallowing with our skin condition can do us no good but can only leave us afloat without any remedy. Instead, we must take deliberate action in taking care of our skin.  Finding the right products that is perfect for our skin type is the best option. Today, there are lot of treatment options available from skin care products to medical treatments/procedures. Products and even cosmetics are now developed to suit different types of skin. Battling acne may seem a herculean task but taking the proper precautions and equipping ourselves with knowledge can help it eradicating this skin condition.

I understand fairly well my brother's fight against acne. I am truly happy that he has now learned to love his skin and how to nurture it. He now asks me the products that can help him heal his acne. He now reads product labels and even do's and dont's online.  He has been very diligent in cleaning his face twice a day and is very open to different medical treatments available to clear his skin. My brother is very partial in using topical creams rather than taking pills to treat his acne. He told me that effects of topical creams can be seen within a few days. He use products within a few days and immediately ditch products that worsen his acne. He has learned to love a few products which I will share with you in my future blog posts.

Godbless everyone!

L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara: Review. Swatches, Pictures

L'oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

I got this as a gift from my bestfriend who currently lives in Canada. She asked me what I liked and I immediately thought of this mascara. A lot of Youtube Gurus in the US have been raving about this. This was my first time to try a mascara from L'oreal and I am quite apprehensive to try it. However, with a lot of buzz from the youtube community who would not be curious to try this too? Let's cut the chase and let's get started with the review.

According to L'oreal:
Dramatic volume effect. Separates & builds every lash. Patented volume maximizing brush. L'Oreal presents Carbon Black Voluminous Volume Building Mascara. L'Oreal Carbon Black Voluminous is uniquely formulated to resist clumping, soften lashes, and build lashes to 5x their natural thickness! Unique maximizing formula quickly thickens and builds lashes in a single application for a full and aromatic lash look. Patented Volume Maximizing Brush thickens lashes evenly and smoothly, leaving them soft with virtually no flakes, smudges or clumps. Voluminous, formulated with Panthenol and Ceramide-R. protects and conditions lashes leaving them supple and soft to the touch, resisting clumping and flaking. Ophthalmologist and allergy tested. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Clump-resistant. Fragrance-free. Made in USA.
Aqua/Water/Eau, Paraffin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cera Alba/Beeswax/Cire D'Abeille, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Acacia/Acacia Senegal Gum, Carnauba/Carnauba Wax/Cire De Carnauba, Palmitic Acid, Dimethiconol, Hydroxyethycellulose, Panthenol, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Sodium Polymethacrylate, Methylparaben, PEG/PPG-17/18 Dimethicone, 2-Oleamido-1,3-Octadecanediol, Propylparaben, Simethicone, BHT, Polyquaternium-10. May Contain: [CI 77492, CI 77499, CI 77491/Iron Oxides, CI 77007/Ultramarines, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide, CI 77266/Black 2, MICA, CI 75470/Carmine, CI 77510/Ferric Ferrocyanide, CI 77288/Chromium Oxide Greens, CI 77289/Chromium Hydroxide Green].

The mascara wand looks like any other mascara wand in the market. However, I noticed that the bristles are quite thick, thus, this wand picks up a lot of product. I would often brush off the excess on the mouth of the tube. Otherwise, it can easily turn my lashes into clump city. It takes forever to remove the excess product on the brush. The shade is indeed carbon black. The color intensity and pigmentation is without question. This the blackest mascara I have ever tried and you could easily see the proof on the pictures I provided below. This gives my lashes that much needed volume. Just 2-3 swipes and it can makes my lashes look fuller and more luscious. It can also lengthen my lashes a bit but not comparable to the length that Maybelline Stiletto mascara can give. This did not sting my eyes. However, I noticed that from the time that I have used this beyond the three month rule, this made my eyes water almost all day. I did not knew that this was the primary culprit in making my eyes water. I only noticed it Right when I stopped using it. After switching to Revlon Photoready, I did not experience watery eyes anymore. Oh no!!!! I should have strictly adhered to the three month rule! This mascara has a wet and thick formula. When you have sparse lashes like I do, drier formula of mascara works better. Believe me! I also learned this from Michelle Phan in one of her videos! Aside from removing the excess product on the brush, I also tend to wait a few seconds before applying this on my lashes to have make the formula a bit tacky. This works well on my lower lashes too. With this mascara, my lower lashes look more noticeable. I got the one that is not waterproof. Despite this fact, it did not smudge on me at all. I use a good makeup remover to wipe off the mascara on my lashes, the product is too pigmented that it can not be easily removed with water and soap. This is also fragrance free. Also, this did not make my lashes too stiff and overtly hard to the point of easy breakage. This can keep my lashes curled for almost half a day. This mascara is actually great minus the fact that I find the formula too thick and wet. I really think that finding a great mascara is very relative because like skin types, our lashes have different volume and length.  With my sparse lashes, I still prefer my Maybelline Stiletto and Missha 4d Mascara over this. Sadly, this is not locally available. I saw ebay shops selling this mascara for 500 pesos.

What I love about this mascara:
1. It gives my lashes great volume.
2. The color is very intense and highly pigmented.
3. It does not smudge. (take note I have dry skin)
4. It works well with my lower lashes too.
5. It can curl my lashes without the use of my curler.
6. It can keep my curl in place.

What I do not like about this mascara:
1. I am not a fan of its wet formula.
2. Excessive application can clump my lashes big time.
3. It takes forever to apply. I have to be extra careful in applying this mascara to prevent it from smearing (because it has a wet formula) and to prevent my lashes from clumping.
4. Not locally available.
My bare lashes
With L'oreal Voluminous Mascara
I did not curl my lashes here.
With L'oreal Voluminous Mascara
I did not curl my lashes here.
