Review: BYS Lip Gloss & Lipstick Duo (Swatches and Photos)

I received these lipstick/lipgloss duo from BYS in their invitation to their Spring Summer Event. My first time to receive bunch of goodies included in an invitation!! ;))
This BYS lipstick and lipgloss combo is perfect for your handbag, giving you the choice of a lipstick or simply some gloss. For long lasting wear, try wearing the lipgloss over the lipstick.

The gloss came with a doe foot applicator.

Chilli Red

Pucker Up Pink

Now, let's head on to the review:

The Lipstick:

The colors of the lipstick are opaque and very buildable especially Chilli Red. I could definitely wore them on their own. However, these lipsticks have a slight shimmer/frost in their finishes. Thus, they tend to highlight the dry areas of my lips especially the flaky parts. I highly suggest to moisturize your lips really well before using this product. Chilli red stayed longer on my lips compared to pucker up pink. It can stay for 2-3 hours without eating or drinking. The texture is not too creamy but glides smoothly on the lips. I noticed that after hours of wear, the color tends to fade in the inner part of the lips.  The lipstick has no pungent smell.

The Lipgloss:

The lipgloss smells so good. It reminds me of a fruity citrus scent. Would you believe that I love the gloss part more than the lipstick? I am not  fan of glosses because they feel so sticky and warm on the lips. On the contrary, these glosses feel so light and give my lips that much needed shine which is not too much for everyday wear.

Overall, this duo works best together!!! Believe me, the gloss really lengthens the staying power of the lipstick and gives the color a bit of omph!! For only 299 pesos, I think this product is worth the try.  If you are a sucker for packaging, do not expect this product to have a sturdy one. The packaging has that tacky feel to it because of the plastic container. I have dropped these products countless of times, so far, no breakage yet. I really want to try the shades Coral and Dusty Rose.  Dusty Rose has been raved about by a lot of Pinay bloggers lately because of its color. If I am not mistaken they are comparing it MAC Peachstock in terms of color. Sounds interesting huh?

Now for the swatches... Please take note that I have layered the lipstick and glosses to achieve this color. And when I say layered, it means 3-4 layers!!! The good thing about this product is that you can control the color pay off by the amount of layers you apply.
Chilli Red Lipstick
The color is a vibrant neutral red tending to have very slight  hints of orange.
When topped off with a gloss, the color appears so sexy and gorgeous!!!! The gloss has very tiny almost not noticeable red and silver shimmer in it . I am totally in love with this color. I had a sorority sister wore this in our anniversary and she has pinkish undertone and very fair, and this look great with her too. I think this color would look great on any skin tone.
Pucker Up Pink
I was a bit worried about this lipstick because it has blue base and having a medium yellow skintone meant that this lip shade will probably look too off and unnatural on me. The color is a medium pink with blue undertones. This has a frosty finish. Lo and behold, this color actually looks good on me. It can instantly give my face a brightening effect.
The lipgloss is on the warmer pink hue but still with bluish and silver iridescence. When worn together, it creates a medium Barbie Pink look.
Here are better swatches:

I apologize for the lip swatches, I took the photos very late in afternoon, thus there was very minimal natural lighting.

Over all, I am happy with this product. Althought, the products did not excel in the staying power department and it can dry up your lips, the color pay off as seen on my swatches and their affordability deserves two thumbs up.
