Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara Review

Our fast-glide formula keeps lashes smooth, even. Technologically advanced micro- bristles evenly apply from root to tip. Rigid core loads big, sleek volume instantly. Explosive, Clump-free volume with 8x bigger lashes.
I have seen this macara countless of times from different Youtube Gurus. They have been raving about this nonstop. When it comes to mascara, Maybelline is the brand I would always turn to. I love the Maybelline Stiletto and would love to try the famous "Falsies Mascara". I got this mascara for 300 pesos online from bonmarche. Here is her facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bonmarchepage?fref=ts

The packaging of this mascara is indeed eye catching. The blue and pink combination looks really different and jovial. The first thing I noticed is the wand of this mascara. I have a bad experience with plastic bristles like the one from Revlon Photoready Mascara. Click here for my full review of Revlon Photoready.  Luckily, the wand does not prick my eye. The brush has short and long flexible bristles which makes application akin to combing the lashes.
I find the brush a bit too big for my taste but it can definitely deliver.

The formula of this mascara is wet and the consistency is a bit thick. Despite this, it feels light and does not weigh down my lashes.
My lashes are short and sparse. I like a mascara that can give my lashes volume and length all at the same time.
After three coats of the Maybelline Rocket Mascara (Take note, I did not curl my lahes prioer to macara application)

I got the shade Very Black. True to its shade, the color is truly deep black. The intense black shade can instantly open up my eyes without the use of eyeliners. It lengthens my lashes really well but not dramatically. Curl my lashes and holds the curl for hours. The downside? It does not volumize my lashes really well rather it separates my lashes and create pointy spider legs lashes. This mascara dries quickly than I expected. It claims to be clump free but not for me. Two coats lengthened my lashes but I needed to apply three or more coats to achieve volume. I love letting the product dry for a while before applying it on my lashes. this technique makes the formula drier and creates feathery, more volumized and longer lashes. However, doing this technique takes a lot of time in my makeup routine. When applied to my lower lashes, it makes it more visible and luscious. Once dried, it make my lashes a bit crispy but still flexible.
What I love about this mascara:
  • The intense pigmentation
  • Curls my lashes and hold my curls quite well
  • Lengthens my lashes really well
  • Affordable
  • No funky smell
What I dislike about it:
  • I am not a fan of the wet formula.
  • It clump my lashes after three coats (be careful in application).
  • Not available locally.
  • It does not volumize my lashes that well.
Surprisingly, I do not hate this mascara at all. I actually like it. Just plainly like it and not in love with it. I do get a lot of compliments when I wear it. My sorority sister even asked me why my lashes are long lately. However, clump free application is a pain in the butt. I recommend this mascara to those with long and thick lashes.

That's it.

  1. I just realized that I stopped using Maybelline mascaras when I got introduced to the ones from Majolica Majorca, K-Palette and Fairydrops. But I agree, when I need a good mascara in a much affordable price, I always go to Maybelline! :)

    Awesome post, my love!

  2. I still have the two variants of Maybelline's The Falsies Mascara in my kit and love to use it on clients. I'm currently loving Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Mascara and Mary Kay Waterproof Mascara for personal use. ^_^

  3. I'm not really into Maybelline and their mascara. ( I love the lipstick and powder. ) The mascara clumps big time and I hate that :( You should try Revlon. I love that product :) Thank you for this review! :)
