ELF Studio Pressed Powder Review

Hello MLI readers!! Another budget friendly makeup review for all of you. I have been meaning to buy this pressed powder from the moment I swatched it. I was very impressed with the coverage it gave when I swiped it at the back of my hand. It was not until I read enough blog reviews that I finally decided to purchase one. It was hailed as thea great dupe for Mac Studio fix powder.
The Studio Line of ELF has been known for their black sleek packaging. The mirror is not that big but I do not mind it at all. I had a hard time choosing my shade. The shade Almond looks perfect for my medium yellow skin tone when I first swatched it, however, I noticed that it turned darker on me. I got so bewildered with the color change reaction because I am not even acidic. Thus, I decided to purchase the lightest shade (Yes, the lightest) which is Porcelain. This powder has one of the best coverage. It has a light-medium coverage that is very buildable.  The powder is soft and the consistency is quite creamy. Due to its texture, this powder tends to deliver a chalky and cakey finish.  It can really highlight the dry areas of my skin but is very mattifying. It can  control the oilies on my tzone area on humid days.
Just one swipe and I immediately picked up a good amount of product.
The good coverage can blur lines one the skin.
The Good:
  1. The coverage is comparable to powder foundations.
  2. Mattifying
  3. It is blendable and buildable.
  4. Evens out my skin very well.
The Bad:
  1. It has a very limited color selection. Porcelain which is the lightest shade made me look like an oompa loompa!!! I was surprised it turned my face turned darker and orangey compared to my neck. It looks so off and unnatural on me. I had to stop using it because I made me look like I got a tan. (Tell me if this happened to you as well).
  2. It contains very little amount of product. Look at the picture below, I already hit pan just in a week's time.
  3. It can get really chalky and powdery.
  4. The puff that came with it is useless and rough.
  5. I do not find this affordable because of the little amount of product that it contains.
I do not recommend this product at all. The color turn unnatural on me. Plus, the little amount of product is so not worth your 249 pesos.

What's your everyday pressed powder? I am currently in the hunt for a good one.

Godbless everyone.

  4. It seems like all of the cost is being spent towards the packaging. I don't see anything positive about the product and like you, find that it looks really unnatural. The swatch looks like espasol.

My current everyday powder is Majolica Majorca pore cover. I used Shiseido before and MM's powder is of similar quality but at a fraction of the cost! Parent company kasi ng MM ang Shiseido :)
