Revlon Colorstay Review with Before/After Photos

The fuss over this foundation seemed endless. From the time this foundation came out to the market until now, raves have been pouring hailing this foundation as their Holy Grail.  This has got to be the most popular drugstore foundation in my opinion. If you are an old reader of my blog, you would know that I have this strong penchant for foundations - liquid, cream, powder... you name it. This started when I was starting to explore makeup way back in college. When I heard about this foundation, I was determined to have one! Being so poorita way back, I asked my mom to purchase me one!! The sad news, I got the wrong shade!! Then, came law school and I decided once again to purchase this foundation and once again I got the wrong one. After law school, I am still very curious with this foundation and I just can not find my right shade at the local Revlon counters!!! I finally figured out to make my MAC Studiofix Liquid Foundation as my reference. There is Christine of Temptalia to thank to and other blogger and Youtube Gurus because I finally found my perfect shade. In my research my closest match are Warm Golden and Golden Beige. Some bloggers mix their Colorstay to get their perfect shade. Unfortunately, Golden Beige or Warm Golden are not available locally. Well, online shops are something we, beauty enthusiasts have to be thankful for, right?
Thanks to Bon Marche for giving me a Revlon Colorstay in Golden Beige for review purposes.

My search for my perfect shade is finally over. Golden beige suits my NC35 skin tone very well. I have been using this foundation for than two months now and I must say this is one of the best I have tried. Take it from a foundation addict like. The consistency of this foundation runs a bit thicker than Mac Studiofix'. It blends well on my skin (not too yellow but it works for me) and does not dry out too quickly. I love using my fingers in applying the product but a flat top brush can create that seamless look. The coverage is beyond fantastic. It can cover my redness, dark under eye circles and pimple scars in just one layer!!! I am not exaggerating this one!! You can refer to my photos below for reference.  The longevity? Absolutely great! It can last 6-7 hours on me without budging. Oh my goodness no need for primers especially for those with dry skin. This is the only liquid foundation that can withstand the humid weather in Manila. I just need to blot my tzone area once or twice the whole day. It makes my skin look dewy at the end of the day without looking washed out. It can also keep my foundation and concealer on my under eyes longer. I also did not experience any breakouts using this foundation.
I dislike the heavy glass bottle of this foundation. I always feel like I will end up breaking it. It is so messy to work with because it does not have a pump and the bottle opening is quite huge. The foundation  feels a bit heavy and I definitely do not recommend it for everyday wear. The bottle does not talk about the foundation being non comodogenic, so I do not presume that it is. Being a heavy duty foundation, I think that it has tendency to clog the pores and can even break one out. It has a weird paint scent to it. Luckily, this foundation does not oxidize on me but it definitely gives a slight white cast on pictures taken with flash. Getting the right shade can be hard especially if you have medium skin tone with yellow undertones because not all shades are available locally.

Here are my before and after shots using this foundation.
without foundation
With only one layer of foundation (I think used more than two sized amount)
I set it with  FS foundation in Chino.
Side by side comparison of the previous photos.

I definitely love this foundation especially for a day time event and I highly recommend this to those who are looking for an affordable heavy duty foundation.  You can buy Revlon Colorstay at Bon Marche for only 500 pesos.

Have a blessed day everyone!

  1. Too bad I'm allergic to Revlon foundations. :( You have nice skin, Atty!

  2. That's what I don't understand.
Why don't they have those shades here? I tested the whipped foundation and the liquid one. All the shades are too pink.

  3. I have my eyes on this foundation since a long time, problem is that its a little hard to decide my shade online. I think medium beige would be a good match for my skin tone. Thanks for the detailed post! xx

  5. I wore it for 1 month then horribly started getting cysts. It took a while for my skin to react to it, started on the forehead then down to the chin area. I thought it was hormonal at first but nope, just the foundation! My skin exploded. If it doesn't break you out then consider it a good thing! It has the best staying power on the market.

  9. I use Golden Beige too, but it's not yellow enough for my warm-toned NC30 skin. But it's fine when set with a yellowish powder. I apply it with my fingers because it looks more natural that way. It makes my skin look smooth, but it can't completely cover up acne marks :(
