The Dupe Alert: NARS Highlighting Bronzing Blush Duo vs. ELF Contouring Blush and Powder Duo

What is your most coveted makeup product ever? I confess mine is the infamous NARS Orgasm. The hype over this blush over the years is simply inexplicable. A lot of dupes have come out from high end to low end. I am super excited happy to announce that I finally got hold of the NARS Blush in Orgasm. My heartfelt gratitude to my cousin, Maria for giving me a bunch of high end goodies. Just a quick kwento, I was not expecting new products and untouched products from her because when she showed me the loot in FACEBOOK, her opening statement was "I have this for quite some time, what do you want?" My answer -- ALL! When she finally handed me the paper bag filled with Benefit Rockateur, Benefit Dandelion, UD Blush, Highlighter, Bronzer Palette, NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo and my current lemming -Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer , I just can't believe my eyes that all were sealed and complete with hetchmarks. OMG talaga! I swear my inner makeup addict just literally exploded with happiness.  Sadly, I was not able to road test any of them immediately because my skin broke out due to my Bataan Trip. Okay, let's cut the chase and proceed with my Dupe Alert.

For years, I was lead to believe (deception or frugality at its finest?) that the ELF bronzing duo (the original one. I believe ELF released new shades this year) is the ultimate dupe for the Nars Highlighting bronzing Blush Duo. Hmmm.. Well, for one, finishing a pan of the ELF Duo has killed delayed my desire to have the NARS Orgasm blush. I must say that they definitely can't be called twins, rather, they are mere sisters (or cousins in the first degree perhaps?). The packaging is obviously very similar. The ELF is more lightweight and NARS is bit heavier but feels very compact and sturdy.

In terms of product quality, Nars (without question) beats ELF. Orgasm and Laguna are very finely milled and applies smoothly. ELF,on the other hand, is very powdery.
Okay. I know the discrepancy between their prices is enough to not dwell on product quality too much. I want to focus on the colors/shades of these duos. Here are their side by side comparison:
NARS Orgasm has that exquisite gradient/texture. The golden sheen is very visible when applied on the skin (on a very good note, I hate shimmers or sheen but this blush blew me away).  It is more rosier than ELF's blush. ELF's blush is not very pigmented but it is a gorgeous peachy pink shade. It goes on very light on me but is very buildable. Laguna is light golden brown in shade with sheen. This can double up as a bronzer and contour powder for me (thankfully it shows on my medium yellow skin tone) while ELF's bronzer has a tiny hint of red/orange to it but it goes on very dark compared to Laguna. ELF's blush and bronzer looks flat compared to the NARS Duo despite the fact that ELF also has shimmers on both its blush and bronzer.

Over all, I do not think they are dupes but ELF is very nice go-to-budget-friendly compact. I have finished a pan before and repurchased another, that means its a good buy! As for NARS blush/bronzer duo, I am in awe. I am just starting my romance with the compact and I must say I can wear this combo all throughout summer.

Godbless everyone!
