MLI Recommends: My Lips But Better Products

Hello everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was all good until I experienced severe allergic rhinitis last night which caused me my one day work pay. My nose incurred minor abrasions and scratches because I was sneezing my brain out like crazy then I became super sleepy after drinking antihistamine. Oh oh oh!!!What a way to start a Monday! I should really warn my smoker family and friends to kindly stay away from me when they want to lit up a cigar or else I would end up a sneezing zombie once again. Anyways, I have been a loyal user of MLLB (My Lips But Better) Lip Products for more than a year. Perhaps, I figure I am too old for a Nicki Minaj Pink or super red lippy ala Dita Von Teese. Nah!!! I just realized that I need to look more professional most of the time (okay... at least most of the time but not ALWAYS! I can't live without that pop of bright hue in my kikay kit). Here are my tops recommendations for my lips but better shades. Please take note that these are lipsticks and glosses. I did not include products that act as stains or those that leaves a hint of color on the lips for hours.

Here are my top picks in no particular order:
** Please do note that hand swatches appear more concentrated, more pigmented and can look different vis-a-vis lip swatches**

Maybelline Lip Polish in Glam 13
This is pocket size lip polish that as the sheen of a gloss and the pigmentation of a lipstick. The color pay off is superb. Depending on the number of layers, this lipgloss can look overtly glossy. This is warm peachy/pink or coral brown. It can make me look fresh and radiant sans a blush.

The FACE SHOP Black Label Lipstick in No. 13 or Pink Brown
Looking at this lippie inside the tube will make you wonder if the color is perfect for grannies or older people because the brown hues are extremely noticeable. Wait, till you swatch it and you'll get the most beautiful muted brownish peach shade. It look so good for everyday wear and even looked better with smokey eyes.

Revlon Lacquer Balm in Ingenue
Swatching this shade at the back of my hand made me shake my head. Being born with naturally dark lip lines, ligh colored lippies do not work well with me. Do not be deceive by the color because it looks very flattering on my lips. I can wear this alone with any lip liner and it does last long. Best thing about it -- it does not dry up my lips.

Shiseido Lacquer Rough in RD320
A lipgloss/lipstick in a tube. This may sound a bit pricey but it unlike the Maybelline lip polish, this looks more like a liquid lipstick than a gloss. It just gives that right amount of natural rosy glow on my lips. The texture is not runny, thus, expect no bleeding. It is very pigmented too and layering is not a problem because it does not emphasize chapped lips at all. I just noticed that I experience a bit of fading at the third-fourth hour without eating. Isn't this lipstick picture perfect? Right amount of sheen - double check, amazing pigmentation - triple check!

PIXY Satin Lipstick in Autumn Apricot
My new found office lipstick. This looks like a warm burnt peach on me. A pick me up fall color but truly wearable during summer. I love the fact how it is so pigmented yet it gives me the au naturel look. Imagine a no makeup makeup look for celebrities here! The downside is the scent. Although it smells sweet and fruity, I prefer my lipstick to be fragrance free so I would not bother wiping it off even when drinking or eating. Yes! I am a (fragrance free) lipstick eater. hehe

Enjoy my super huge face haha!

  4. Nice post! As much as I love bright lippies, I'm also always looking for nice MLBBs for work and so far the only one that I've liked is Maybelline Color Sensational's Warm Me Up. Doesn't wash me out and doesn't make my teeth look garish. :)

  5. i thought it was the shiseido, but then It was the revlon pala that looked super good on your lips! it evenly covers all the imperfections and doesnt dry your lips. I can see that it has moisturizing properties. soooo love it!

  6. The Revlon balm looks lovely! Truth be told, I've yet to feel even slightly enamored with MLBB shades--am currently loving my Nyx Round Lipstick in Sunflower. I have The Morning After lippie from Happy Skin; definitely the best one i've tried so far but my mom swapped it for her Girls Night Out lippie (too dark daw).
