Review: Avon Ideal Oil Control Pressed Powder

Guess who got dethroned in my makeup kit?Yes, my all time favorite powder foundation (FS Powder) is taking a break from my must haves list. This pressed powder did not excite me the first time I saw this from Avon's summer loot that they gave me. I immediately tossed it inside my makeup drawer thinking that it will not match my skin tone again. I have sworn to myself way back in college never to purchase any Avon Powder because I can't seem to get my right shade. There are powders that looked way too light on my skin, too pink, too orange or just looked so unnatural on my skin. So, from then on I have veered away from Avon powders. Then, I ran out of my so called HG powder. This is the only powder in my drawer that time and I am not fond of loose powders so I just used it (call of the moment judgment) and thought of buying an FS powder afterwards. Then, the greatest surprise happened - I fell in love with this powder.

Yep, it felt liking falling in love with the most unlikely person diba? haha
The packaging is lightweight and I really think it looks posh because of the black glossy compact. I just hope that the mirror was as square shaped as big as the compact cover and not in a small circular shape. I find big compact mirrors very helpful. The product weighs 10 grams not bad for the very affordable price of 250 pesos. The puff that came with it is very useful yet it got easily deformed the first time I washed it. Also, I make sure that I wash it immediately after three days use because the accumulation of product on the puff can make the powder look cakey on the skin.
The powder finely milled but not as soft or creamy like a powder foundation. It goes on with a very light coverage like usual pressed powders but it sets my base makeup flawlessly. Plakadong plakado I promise but it delivers a very natural finish! I got two compliments in the office within the week about my makeup that it looks seamless and it made my skin radiate because the shade "neutral" is a tad bit lighter than my skin tone. This also makes my base makeup last longer. The only thing I need to retouch through out the day is my t zone and my under eyes (because I developed the bad habit of rubbing my eyes which eventually erases my concealer). I have been using this incessantly and I have hit pan big time. Of course, I already ordered from an AVon Lady a back up because it is on sale for 199 pesos. I was thinking of getting a different shade since it is a wee bit lighter than my skin tone but I am afraid I might get the wrong shade again.

What I love about this product:

Affordable!!
Locally available.
It feels lightweight on the skin.
The consistency of this powder is amazing. It may not be as creamy compared to a powder foundation but it sets my base makeup really well.
It does not cake (the amount of liquid foundation or bb cream applied beforehand affects the finish of your base makeup)
Keep my oilies at bay especially on the t zone area.
Keeps my face look fresh for hours without retouching.
The finish is very natural.

What I do not like about this powder:

The small circular mirror.
The puff that came with it.
I love love love this foundation and I highly recommend this everyone whether you have oily, dry or combination skin! This powder nailed it! It is now on top of my must haves list. I really hope Avon will keep this powder especially the shade Neutral available in the market for more years to come. Please Avon, do not phase this product out!!!

Godbless!
