Review: Catrice Cosmetics Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner

I have tons of beauty products that I have used up til their very last drop without even blogging about them. These are usually the products I bought with my own money and not sent by any brand or company. Due to the volume of products that I have been getting for reviews, I end up crossing out own purchases on my to-blog list. I know majority (o sige lahat na) of my purchases are not high end. Sometimes, I wonder  if people are still interested reading my drugstore gems or my so called cheap thrills. Are you? Kasi naman I really feel na napag iwanan na ako ng mga friends ko dahil ganito pa rin ang mga bet kong make up!! My friends have Nars, Shiseido and Laura Mercier etc. in their kikay kit but I am stuck with drugstore finds. haha Minsan ang pampalubag loob ko na lang mga teh, oh pagandahan na lang ng pag apply oh!! haha Well, to my readers na nagsasawa na with drugstore posts, do not worry. This 2015, I will be slowly incorporating high end products in my kit in preparation for my wedding day. If you still don't know, I will be doing my own makeup for my wedding ala- Bianca Gonzales at Kate Middleton style. Anyways, today I will be sharing with you this affordable primer. Catrice Cosmetics is a European brand and a sister company of Essence Cosmetics. Generally, I find Catrice Cosmetics a very nice drugstore brand. Their eyeshadows are creamy and pigmented , their blushes and eyeliner all look promising. But one product stood out in their counter and this is the prime and fine smoothing refiner. Aside from the fact that it got me because of its tag price, it looks so similar with the L'oreal Magique Primer which costs double. The packaging is really nice. It is housed in a very light glass jar with black cap.
What it says:

CATRICE presents Prime and Fine – the new range of professional products for an excellent foundation. Ideal preparation: the Smoothing Refiner. The oil-free silicone-based primer practically makes pores disappear and fills out wrinkles for a smooth, refined complexion. Now you’re ready for your grand entry! Comes in a high-quality jar

The primer is basically a silicone based one with a slight light reflecting pink tint to it. It gives off a very nice luminous and radiant tone when applied to the skin. It helps in taming the redness on my face and like any other silicone based primers, it smoothens my face and somehow made my pores look smaller. It blurs out my imperfections but it does not entirely blot them out. You can refer to the photos below for reference. With this primer, my foundation and bb creams glides smoothly on my face and it even works well on my skin even if I am plagued with rashes. It blends my foundation well even with a heavy moisturizer underneath. I have read reviews that this is drying but I have not tried using it alone without any primer. It did not break out with this product. I only used this on special occasions or whenever I attend events. It also does a good job of  making my foundation last longer. I also noticed that my concealers also stay better under my eyes whenever I use this primer.

The texture of this primer is buttery and creamy and dries into a satin finish on the skin. This primer is very light and it does not feel heavy on this skin. That being said, I really want to use it everyday  but I refuse and control myself from doing so because I do believe that daily use of silicone based primers can clog the pores. If you have very oily skin, this primer is not for you as it does not control the oilies very well. As for me, it somehow keeps my oilies at bay. Take note, I have combination dry skin.
For 369 pesos, this is a very affordable product to try. Will I buy again? No. I prefer the clear silicone primers or I will probably buy the Nars pro prime refining primer as suggested by Liz.

Godbless!

  5. but I love your drugstore product reviews! Whenever I see something sa mall, I always check your blog first before purchasing anything to see if it's good. Tsaka it's nice that you feature drugstore brands, goes to show we don't to buy expensive brands just to look good.. :)
