Best of 2015 (Makeup Edition)

2015 was one of the best year for My Lucid Intervals. 2015 was a year for skincare, brows and highlighter for me. Yes. It was in 2015 when I went back to basics by learning to love my skin more despite it being too problematic when I am stressed. It was also the year that I discovered my love for highlighters. Before, I shy away from anything shimmery when it comes to cheek/face products. The only time that a shimmer would hit my face will be on my lids. Thanks to Nikkietutorials and Jaclyn Hill, falling in love with highlighters suddenly became effortless. This was also the year i developed my obsession with kilay!

Here are my Best of 2015 Makeup Edition:

Bobbi Brown Shimmerbrick in Bronze -  It was definitely love at first sight (and swipe). :) I got this gem from Beauty MNL (https://beautymnl.com/) on a whim. It was not the shade that I initially wanted but I got it anyway because  I wanted something new and luxe to add in my makeup kit. Lo and behold, this has got to be one of the most beautiful product that ever landed my makeup drawers. The color is a beautiful golden bronze that gives me the most gorgeous and subtle glow (as if that glow came from within). I was doubly excited to use it on my wedding day when one of my fave youtuber, Alexandrea Garza, used this product on her wedding day as well.

The Balm Marylou Manizer - Nikkietutorials has raved bout this product countless of times that I was not able to resist buying it. This highlighter is highly pigmented. The color pay off is simply outstanding. It is extremely blendable and easy to work with. The color can be sheered out or build up effortlessly with the use of synthetic or animal hair brushes and even with the use of fingers. I love how it can instantly make my skin look healthy. Here is my detailed review about it: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/06/get-that-glow-balm-mary-lou-manizer.html

Happy Skin Beauty in Bloom Get Cheeky with Me  -This is a 2 in 1 blush that became my staple for months. I love the fact that it contains two shades of blush that can be used separately on their own or mixed together to achieve a beautiful shade. The shade suits my medium yellow skintone. What I love most about is its staying power. It can last on my cheeks for 5 hrs the most! Here is a complete review of this blush: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/07/happy-skin-beauty-in-bloom-get-cheeky.html

Pink Sugar Sweet Cheeks HD Blush - Pink Sugar is a new competitor in the local beauty market and I have to say this brand is something every makeup junkie should look out for. There are a lot of buzz on their liquid lipstick but I think their HD Blush is one of their best products. The shade selection of their blushes is on point. The blendability and texture are comparable to high end ones. My faves are Miss Independent and Summer Nights. I love these two shades to bits that I ditched my MAC, Nars and The Balm Instain Blushes on my wedding day. Full review plus

Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks in No. 3  - Canmake Glow Fleur Cheeks blush is one of those products that did not look promising intially. Probably the reason is because I never liked mosaic blush/bronzer. For me, it is just another cute blush from Japan. Little did I know that this cute blush is one of the best I have ever tried in 2015. The color is a gorgeous coral peach with hints of shimmer (that is barely noticeable). I love the brush that came with it.The brush is very soft and picks up product very well. It also dries very quickly. It became on of my go to blushes because I need not bring a separate applicator. This also beats my high end blushes in terms of staying power. As in panalo! It became part of my unsung hero and blogged about it here:

Shiseido Maquillage Dramatic Mood Veil - Another winning product from the land of the rising sun! This blush is housed in a posh golden casing. Despite its bulky packaging, I always prefer bringing this in my kikay kit because of the brush that came with it. Also, pink and shimmers are not my cup of tea but the colors in this compact compliments my skin tone very well and delivers that ethereal glow. More on this blush here: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/07/shiseido-maquillage-dramatic-mood-veil.html

Canmake Shading Powder (not in the photo)- This is the best contour powder I have tried this year. The color pay off is awesome, consistency is creamy and the texture is phenomenal. I wanted to use this as my contour powder on my wedding but I misplaced it days before my big day. This looks so natural on me. It just gives my face that much needed depth and dimension. The shade is a medium brown with no hints of red tones. Full review can be found here: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/07/review-canmake-shading-powder-in-no-1.html
Morphe Eyeshadow Palette in 35N - If you are in search for a good matte eyeshadow palette, then this one is worth checking out. I initially bought the Tartlette Palette due to raves online only to find out that it does not blend very well. After my heartbreak with a high end brand, I decided to purchase this and it is every matte shadow lover's dream. This contains 35 colors which are all wearable neutral shades. These shadows are very easy to work with and has a very nice silky consistency.

Pink Sugar Eye Candy in No. 2 - This eyeshadow palette is a superb combination of satin and shimmery shades. I love the colors included in this palette and I have brought this with me during my honeymoon. The color pay off  is intense even without any primer. I love how it adheres easily on my lid whether I use a brush or finger for application. This is a local product but the quality is definitely that of a high one. I used this shadow side by side my UD Naked 3 and Inglot on my wedding day.

Catrice Eyeshadow Pen in Mermaid It - I chanced upon this product in SM Megamall during my usual weekend trip to the mall. Buying a new makeup was not in my plan that day but when I swatched this pen at the back of my hand, I instantly fell in love with the color. This works well as an eyeshadow base because it is long lasting and smudge proof. It looks best when paired with matte and shimmery shadows particularly pinks, corals, mauves and browns. I love how it makes my eyeshadow routine easier because this pen together with any eyeshadow can instantly create gradient on the lids without much blending skills needed. Full review on this product is found here: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/07/catrice-eyeshadow-pen-in-mermaid-it.html

The Face Shop Style My Brow Pencil -  This is the best brow pencil I have ever tried. The pigmentation is just right and is not to waxy for my taste. This product has reached the HG status in my list due to its affordability and great quality. I will definitely repurchase this especially during the Buy 1 Get 1 sale. Review can be found here: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/08/the-face-shop-lovely-me-ex-style-my.html

Essence Lash and Brow Mascara - I could not remember the time I discovered this baby. All I know is that I have kept on repurchasing it over and over again. I have finished more than 3 tubes this year. This keeps my brows in place and gets rid of the extra brow wax and powder.

KPalette Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner -  Jes Roque, a good friend of mine, has been raving about this liner  ever since  we became close to each other. hehe Ganon na katagal but it was only in 2015 that I had the chance to try it. This product is a must have for kilay lovers. It just makes my brow game very strong. With this liner, I can create the sharpest arch and cleanest brow shape. True to its name, this lasts forever on the brows.

KPalette Real Lasting Brow Mascara - This gives my brows a nice hint of color and can make my brows look naturally lighter. It gives that added depth to my sparse brows.  It does not have any shimmer which I really like. Like its liner counterpart, this stays put for hours once applied.

Milani Stay Put Brow Color - If I had to choose the best brow product for 2015, this product will definitely take the place. This is a brow pomade that goes on like a powder/pencil once applied. This product makes my brows look vavavoom -- effortlessly. It adds drama and depth to my brows. It also does an awesome job of making my brows look fuller. This looks stunning on photos (siyempre ginamit ko na naman siya sa wedding ko). Pigmentation is remarkable. A light dab on the pot with the help of a slanted brush will create a full brow in an instant. Like the name suggests, this brow product stays put the whole day. Full review can be found here: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/11/milani-stay-put-brow-color-review.html

Jordana  12 HR Made to Last Pencil in Continuous Almond  - This works well as a waterline brightener and brow bone highlighter. It is creamy and does not tug my eyes during application. It is also pigmented.

MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre - This is a creamy eyeshadow base that sticks on my lid for hours. It is a very nice eyeshadow primer because it evens out the color of my lid, makes shadows last longer and makes eyeshadows more vibrant. I love using this with matte shades especially lighter ones because it can really make the color pop.

Etude House Curl Fix Mascara -  I forgot to initially include this on the list. (my bad). This baby is the best waterpoof mascara ever. This lengthens and volumizes lashes very very well. Happy Skin Lip and Cheek Mousse-  Forget liquid lipsticks. If you are not a fan of liquid lipsticks because they crack your lips, then you must try the Lip and Cheek Mousse of Happy Skin. This lip mousse has a velvety rich texture. Its pigmentation is wonderful.  This  is not too drying compared to other liquid  lipsticks that I have tried. This feels velvety on the lips and goes on like a dream leaving no visible lip lines. I also love how one shade can be combined with another shade to create a new one or the product can be combined with some other lippies in my stash.

My favorite lipsticks for 2015 are: Maybelline Reb 07, Maybelline Touch of Spice, Pink Sugar in Naked, and Pink Sugar in Desire. These are the lipsticks that I kept on using throughout the year.

The Face Shop My Lips Eat Cherry - This is the best lip and cheek I have ever used this year. This is extremely blendable and gives my lips a just bitten look. It stays on for hours and is not too drying on the cheeks and lips. I had this with me throughout my honeymoon and it is very handy.

L'oreal Mat Magique BB Veil - Say hello to the powder foundation that became my ultimate favorite and has become an essential this 2015. This Mat Magique BB Veil is a wonder product. It gives my skin that much needed coverage but it feels light when worn. It does not look cakey despite the amount of product I pile on my face. My face looks fresh and smooth whenever I use it. G2 is my perfect shade. It is also very affordable and it costs 300 pesos only.   I had just finished my 3rd pan last week and I am on my fourth. I need to hoard this powder asap because I do not know if L'oreal will phase this out any time soon. I highly suggest this to everyone who is looking for a pressed powder or powder foundation.

Shiseido Glow Enhancing Primer -  This primer do not make my makeup last longer but it does make foundation application smoother. It gives my face a boost of moisture and preps my dry skin very well. This primer gives me a subtle radiance and can be used as a liquid highlighter or as a highlighter base. This feels very lightweight and does not feel greasy at all.

LOL Face Primer- I could not imagine that this primer will go to my 2015 favorites and I am reviewing it side by side my Shiseido Primer. This primer only costs a fraction of a price . I have been reaching out for this 159 pesos product almost every week. It is my go to everyday primer. I can even use it alone on its own without any moisturizer as my base.  For more info, here is my review on this primer: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/07/cheap-thrills-lol-face-primer.html

L'oreal Infallible Pro Matte Liquid Foundation- This liquid foundation is a favorite among Youtubers and I will not disagree with them. The coverage is medium but buildable to full coverage. It can even cover my eye bags. It has an awesome staying power even sans primer. Golden Beige is my perfect match and it does not oxidize on me. This is a foundation that would work best on oily skin tone. As it names suggests, this delivers a semi matte finish. Due to this, I need to use a much heavier moisturizer whenever I use this foundation to prevent dryness. Compared to Revlon Colorstay, this foundation does not feel heavy on the skin and is very breathable. The only thing I do not like about product is that it is not locally available. I bought at http://bonmarchepage.com/.

Skindinavia Bridal Makeup Finishing Spray- This products does a great job of locking ny makeup in place. It freshens up my skin and makes my foundation look more natural and less powdery. It has a very fine mist and does not have any scent to it. I love that it is fragrance free. Get yours at http://www.dtcmakeup.com/

Maybelline Dream Satin Skin Foundation -This foundation has an awesome coverage and blends very well when applied. It has a rich velvety texture that does not highlight my dry patches and rashes. I have raved about this foundation on this post: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2015/07/drugstore-find-maybelline-dream-satin.html

Shiseido Perfect Stick Concealer-This concealer has a very rich emolient and creamy texture which makes it very easy to blend. This melts on to the skin once applied and can cover my problem areas very well. I got the shade Medium which has a peach tint to it perfect for covering the dark under eye circles. This can be used as a corrector for my undereyes. This is not drying and did not cause my any unwanted milia.

NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer- I have been hearing a lot of good things about this concealer and when I had the chance to swatch it at Rustan's, it did not fail to blew me away. It comes in a sleek packaging with a doe foo applicator. The color selection is very nice. They have a lot of shade good for those with yellow tones. I got the shade ginger. The coverage is full and it can absolutely cover anything. The texture is thick and heavy so blending is a must and should be done quickly. It has a tendency to settle on the fine lines and crease on my under eye but with the right application, such dilemma can easily be remedied. This is best applied with the use of fingers.

NYX HD Photogenic Concealer- If you are looking for an affordable alternative to the Nars Concealer, then this is what you are looking for. This concealer is long wearing and has a medium to full coverage. Unlike Nars, this baby blends very easy and is not too thick. It covers and brightens my under eyes very well. I also use this for highlighting because I got a shade lighter than my skin tone. Also, compared to Nars Concealer, this one has little to no creasing at all. Setting it with powder is still advisable.

Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent-   This is one my biggest discovery last year. This loose powder is absolutely amazing. It is very finely milled and it sets my foundation and concealer perfectly. It does not add any coverage nor does it alter the color of my concealer and foundation. It just sets my base makeup and makes it look seamless, flawless and silky. I used it on my wedding day, btw. It does not cake too.
