What's New: Maybelline Superstay Foundation Review
Hello!! Hindi kayo namamalikmata, may bagong blog post talaga ako! hehe I miss blogging so much. For a time akala ko kaya ko na ilet go ang pagbblog pero hindi pala. This is my way of destressing and keeping my sanity. Being busy with work felt like I was in law school all over again kaya I decided to go back to blogging to get rid of all the anxiety in my system. For my comeback post (naks!), I decided to blog about something very close to my heart --- siyempre foundation. hehe I got this Maybelline Foundation more than a month ago. Yes, nung hindi pa siya locally available. Nabili ko siya sa tumataginting na 700 pesos. Ang mahal compared sa price niya locally which is only 499 pesos. I am glad Maybelline brought this product in the Philippines. Right off the bat, I like this more than the Fit Me foundation.
I got the shade Natural Beige (220) which is a perfect match on me. Swak na swak talaga sa kulay ko. It has a pump and is housed in a glass bottle. The pump dispenses product easily and the amount (the pump dispenses) can be controlled. It has 30 ml / 1fl. oz. of product. This foundation claims the following:
- full coverage foundation
- 24 hr wear
- Seamless matte finish
- Breathable and comfortable
- Fade and Trasnfer Resistant
- Oil free
- Doesn't clog pores
- Dermatologist Tested
The texture of this foundation is creamy and it really blends and glides well on my skin even without primer. It has a thick formulation with a medium to full coverage. It has a velvety matte powder finish and sets quite easily. That is why it is best applied with the use of the fingers to get the maximum coverage and also to warm up the product during application. I tried applying it with a a brush and it really looked streaky. The coverage is divine!As in! It is not at par with my Marc Jacobs Remarcble Foundation which is the most pigmented and full coverage foundation I have tried but for a drugstore product, this one is such a treasure! It can cover up my dark circles, my psoriasis flare ups and the ugly discolorations on the sides of my nose and other parts of my cheeks. It amazingly blurs out my pores sans primer. Indeed, this is one of the best drugstore foundations in terms of coverage. Kinabog niya si Loreal Infallible in so many levels. Staying power is also great because it can keep my face fresh for almost the whole day especially the cheek area. It has this makeup scent which is tolerable. This foundation may feel heavy especially for those who are not used to wearing makeup. I tried using this everyday for a week and it did not clogged my pores and did not irritate/nor caused me breakouts.
Now, for all the impressive things I have mentioned about this foundation, all of you may think that I will be giving this product a 10/10 rating. Gustong gusto kong mahalin ng sobra sobra itong foundation na ito pero ang hirap niyang mahalin. hahaha Sabi ko nga sa isang reader ko, this is like a Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation na medyo kinulang (ibang level kasi pigmentation and kapit ni Marc Jacobs). This foundation is very complex to work with especially if you have dry skin. I also have to take into consideration the skin care products I use to prevent it from looking heavy and cakey on my skin. Also, the weather also affects the performance of this foundation. It looked like a mess on humid days (especially on the nose area) and there are days when it still looks cakey even when it is raining. Grabe sala sa init sala sa lamig tong foundation na ito and I really can't decipher when will it good on my skin. Due to its finish, this foundation tends to highlight my lines and dry areas.
Overall, I can say that this foundation is good based on its price point, longevity, amazing coverage, and perfect shade match. In terms of performance on my dry skin, that is a different matter. As I have mentioned, there are days when it works for me and days when it does not. I have yet to find the right skincare product that it will work best with. I know ang labo nitong review ko but I am speaking for someone with dry skin who wants to make this foundation work. I have not experienced caking and meltdown with Estee Lauder Double Wear and Loreal Infallible which are also meant for oily skin gals.
