Is it too late to post my April Faves? I have been very busy and sick the past few days. April just flew so fast that I can't believe that next week is already the elections. I am trying a lot of new products lately that I can't wait for another three months to feature a quarterly hit list. These are the stuff that I have been using almost everyday this month. Here is a quick run down of my April Favorites:
Holika Holika Petit BB Cream in Essential I have been reaching for this product almost everyday because I find BB cream perfect for the hot weather in Manila. This Holika Holika BB Cream in Essential has a very good coverage, moisturizing property and has SPF 30 PA++ to protect my face from the harsh sun. I have reviewed the Clearing version here: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2012/09/bb-cream-crazy-holika-holika-clearing.html.
The shade is lighter than my skin tone but I really love how it brightens up my face in an instant. With a darker setting powder, it matches my shade well. Korean BB Creams are by far still the best bb creams out there in my opinion.
Celeteque Hydrolyzed Moisturizing Mist This product magically turns my heavy coverage foundations look like second skin. Click here for my detailed review: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2013/04/celeteque-dermoscience-hydration.html I must say that this is my most fave product for this month. I bring this anywhere and it keeps my face fresh and hydrated despite the scorching heat.
Belo Essentials Whitening Anti-Perspirant Deodorant I discovered this product through Shen and Martha. I was really happy I bought this deodorant. This only costs 179 or 169 pesos (I cannot remember, I really apologize for my poor memory). So far, this does not darken my pit and it controls my perspiration fairly well . It sprays a relaxing and cooling mist. The scent of this deo is very nice! This is probably one of the best deo I have tried because it dries quickly compared to roll on deos.
4U2 Superlight BB Powder -I bought this as a touch up powder. Lately,I find the Fanny Serrano 2 way cake too heavy for touch ups. Here is my full review of the product: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2012/07/review-4u2-dream-girl-superlight-bb.html MAC Melba Blush - My first MAC blush after the tragedy. I love the staying power of MAC blushes. They stay in place for hours and applies smoothly. The degree of opacity and pigmentation is great. You just need a light hand to achieve that perfect glow. This blush is matte warm peach with brownish pink undertones that looks like a rosy peach on my yellow skintone.
Revlon Colorstay I got this powder for review purposes from Bon Marche. Can I just say that this is my favorite foundation to date? In terms of coverage, price point and staying power, this foundation beats my all time favorite MAC Studiofix hands down. Review and comparison with my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation will be posted soon. Visit Bon Marche's Page here: https://www.facebook.com/bonmarchepage?fref=ts
Eye of Horus Eyeliner I got this from the March Glamourbox and this cost a whopping 960 pesos. I am thrilled I got a full sized sample from Glamour box. This is one of the best pencil eyeliner I have ever tried. The color pay off is amazing, glides like a dream, does not budge nor smudge and is insanely waterproof!!!! This stays on my upper waterline and lashline the whole day with noticeable but slight fading after the 5th hour.
I am almost through with half of the pencil. You can see how bold the color is. I have tried rubbing it with water but it did not budge at all.
Watsons Compact Puff This affordable Cosmetic Puff applies my powder foundations seamlessly. The flocked surface packs on my powder foundation better than an ordinary sponge, thus, can completely blurring my pores. Whenever I use this puff, I noticed that my foundation adheres better on my skin and stays longer than usual. I apply with a patting motion and concentrates more on areas where coverage is needed. This puff is very sturdy too. I have been using it for over a month . Compared to sponge or wedges that can accumulate makeup stains badly, this compact puff is very easy to clean much like washing a cloth. Despite having washed it countless of times, it still has remained it shape and puffiness. I will definitely repurchase this. This only costs 59 pesos (I think, again I apologize for not remembering the prices).
Nichido HD Lipstick in Pink Tulip The shade of Nichido Pink Tulip HD lipstick is perfect for the summer. If you are looking for bright pink lipstick, this local lippie is a hit for only 180 pesos. Also, the staying power is great. This lipstick leaves a natural tint on the lips even after eating or wiping it off. If you hate having dry lips, I suggest to skip this lippie because of its matte finish, it can eventually dry out your lips quickly. My quick remedy is applying a good moisturizing balm like Carmex.
Cure (Natural Aqua Gel) My dad, mom, sister, brother.. Oh let me just say that everyone in our house is loving this product. This removes the dead skin very gently without fear of those harsh abrasive scrubs. I only use this once a week and it can also removes rough or dry areas of the skin.
K-Palette 1 Day Lash Perm Just a quick note on this mascara. This mascara has the lightest wand I have ever use which makes application very easy. This also holds the curl for hours and lengthens my lashes well. I will be doing a thorough review soon What are your faves last April? I would love to hear your recommendations. Have a blessed day to all!
Hello MLI Readers! For more than a week, I have been too preoccupied with a lot of things. On top of that is the series The walking Dead. Oh my, this is probably the best series I have ever seen. This series has definitely kept my imagination going wild and my pulse rate speeding up. Some may find it too morbid and gore but not for me. Aside from my Walking Dead Addiction, Insanity has also veered me away from blogging. More often than not, I will choose Insanity over beauty blogging because I am desperate on loosing weight. Right now, I took a break from insanity because of a knee injury. Enough of my blabbing, let's head to my quarterly favorites. 1. Krave Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator - The hot weather here in Manila melts my face makeup so quickly that I tend to skip foundation or bb cream most of the time. But Krave's powder has been my anti-shine hero this past month without leaving my skin tight nor highlighting the dry patches of my face. Thanks to Chrystal of Kikaymom.blogspot.com for giving me this powder. I have been reaching for this more than the overhyped Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder. 2. Etude House Sweet Recipe All Over Colour in Raspberry Mousse Cake - this is my go to lip and cheek product. This has been a staple in my makeup kit ever since I got this. The reddish tint compliments my medium yellow skin tone. The texture is very creamy and blends really well. The color is very pigmented. On the cheeks, it gives me a very natural flush and it is not sticky at all. I also use this on my lips sans the lip liner but I do not skip the balm. The best thing about this product is the scent. It has a sweet fruity scent that is quite addicting. 3. Etude House Sweet Recipe Choux Base in Mint - I have tried green and violet makeup base before from other Korean brands and it did nothing but made me look like Morticia Adams. This is the reason why I was not gung ho over this product when Etude House launched this. The first time I tried this, I immediately noticed that it made my skin smoother, even and brighter. It did not become a surprise when I started using it day after day after day. In other words, I was hooked on using this product. I love using this with foundations that are slightly darker than my skin tone like the San San BB Cream and the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation. The scent just like the All Over Cheek Cream is really nice. It has this subtle green tea scent to it which is very refreshing. 4. Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation - This foundation has been my everyday staple. The lightweight feel is perfect during the summer. I love the fact that it has SPF20 but does leave a white cast in pictures. Chcek out my full reviewhere. I got this from Sis Juju of Bon Marche https://www.facebook.com/bonmarchepage?fref=ts for review purposes. Check out her site for affordable drugstore finds. 5. Artdeco Camouflage Cream Concealer - With a very affordable price of 450 pesos, this tiny product is definitely a must try. Do not be fooled by its poor packaging. Housed in this flat container with an annoying sliding cover, this concealer is truly a heavy duty one. I am truly amazed with its coverage which can go from medium to full. The downside is that it tends to settle on the fine lines of my under eye. But the hell with my fine lines, this covers up my dark circles in a jiffy!!! Thanks Liz for featuring this product on your blog. 6. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Complete UV Moisture - This has got to be my life saver. Walking under the harmful heat of the sun these days does not worry me at all because of this baby. This has SPF 50, does not feel sticky or heavy on the skin, does not leave a white cast on photos and did not irritate my skin. This is actually my second bottle and I would definitely repurchase as soon as I ran out of this product.
7. Black Beauty Hair Moisturizer - I am not a fan of hair coat or shine oil or whatever you call them. I find them sticky and heavy on the hair. I was prancing around SM Supermarket when I saw this. I gave this a try without expecting much on this product. I chose this over Dove or the Pantene Leave on because this only costs 75 pesos. I was amazed that it did not made my hair oily but gave it that much needed shine. Also, it tamed my frizzes throughout the day. I use this after bath and lather it on my damp hair going through the ends with my fingers. I do not apply this on my scalp.
8. Carmex Lip Balm - There came a time sometime in January when my lips was too chapped and dry. It was flaking like crazy and I have lip wounds. I bought Maybelline Baby Lips but it did not help. Then, I bought Vaseline Lip Balm in a squeeze tube but it did not help either. I decided to go for this Carmex lipbalm. I first heard of Carmex through Aubrey (Fafinettex in Youtube). This instantly healed chapped lips. It has this refreshing minty feel to it. I will be buying another one in a tube.
9. Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick in 08 - Click here for my full review. This is very beautiful everyday pink color that brightens my face in an instant. This lasts very well and does not dry up my lips. This is the very first lipstick that I have tried this year.
10. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Stockholm - This is truly my unsung hero. I have been using this everyday for the past months during my hearings and meetings. This is definitely a beautiful light peachy pink color that is perfect for office wear. This may appear sheer with one layer but the color is very buildable. I love the matte finish and the lightweight feel on my lips. I would definitely repurchase this shade and Antwerp. Thanks to Chrystal again for this.
These colors are perfect for everyday wear.
11. ELF Eyelid Primer - I was really skeptical in trying this primer because of the mix reviews online. I bought this on a whim when I had to attend an event and I do not have an eyeshadow primer in my stash. This is probably the cheapest primer locally available. I was really surprised that this is a very good primer. This is way better than the Etude House Proof Ten Primer for only a fraction of a price. It blends very well on my lids and does not dry too easily. I can apply it over my powdered lids without experiencing powder build up. It prevents my eyeshadow from creasing for hours. Please note that I have dry lids so I really don't know if it will work for people with oily lids.
12. Ever Bilena Advance Eyebrow Pencil in Brown - I use this for contouring my nose bridge and for outlining my brows. This pencil is very pigmented and goes on smoothly when applied.
13. 4u2 Dreamgirl Quattro Eyeshadow - Clickherefor my full review ans swatches of this palette. From everyday look to night time smokey eyes, this small palette right here is definitely a versatile product. I can use each color of the palette alone for a quick wash of color on my lid.I can use this with a brush or just my fingers for application. the colors are extremely creamy and blendable. The color pay off is really good. For 199 pesos, you can never go wrong with this palette.
That's it!! you will be seeing a lot of new products in my favorite lists and product reviews. Godbless everyone!
(Pardon the outer corner of my eyes, it has been very watery lately , thus it tends to wash out my makeup) My favorite makeup tool is not my brushes nor my sponges. I have said it before and I will say it again, the best makeup tool are your clean fingers. Take note of the adjective. :) Brushes can create precise strokes but when you are in a hurry to the office or late for a meeting, you don't have all the time in the world to different kind of eye brushes right? Fingers offer nice pressure points and can heat up the product instantly because of their warmth. Even Michelle Phan does her makeup using her fingers like this tutorial:
Not all eyeshadow can work well with my favorite tool (fingers). I have observed that eyeshadow with frosty finishes works are the easiest to apply using your fingers. It goes on creamy and glides smoothly on the lid. For this look, I am using this beautiful and very affordable palette from 4u2. Click my review here for more information.
I wore this look on Valentine's day and I got compliments from the BF!
First, I apply the rosy champagne shade all over my kid with the use of my middle finger. It is best to use to ring finger if you have smaller lid.
Spread it all over your lid above and make sure it is slightly above the crease area.
It should look like this.
Then to add definition to your eyes, place a darker shade on the the outer V with your pinky finger. Then, Apply mascara and tightline your eyes with black liner. Line your waterline with a peach/beige liner (I am using Nichido Pencil Concealer in Natural) and line your lower lash line with brown liner to not forget to highlight the inner corner of your eyes.
Tadaa!! the Final look..

Have you tried applying your eye makeup with your fingers? Godbless everyone!!
Hi everyone! I finally got the package that my bestfriend sent me! I asked her to buy me these Revlon products because I thought these will never get to our local counters! I am looking forward to the Revlon Whipped Foundation! Waahhh! There is a huge Youtube hype on that product. Anyways, I finally got a new primer! Yehey! Also, I have been lemming for this L'oreal Carbon Black Mascara for months. Again, a lot of Youtube Gurus are raving about this one.
My bestfriend also sent me these BBW stuff. Nasurprise ako!#kalurkey In fairness, I love the scent. Thank you Bes! I hope I could be there with you on your special day. I am so excited and happy that God gave you a beautiful blessing. I will pray for you and my inaanak. :)
I have finally bought a palette. I was contemplating on what palette should I get that is perfect for traveling. Something that would fit perfectly in my makeup kit. I bought this palette online but this is available at our local counters. I chose this because it has a mixture of matte and shimmery eye shadows. The colors are very suitable for office makeup. I am also planning on getting an In2it palette in the shade Sorbet Deluxe. . Since I cannot go wild with colors for office makeup, I might as well enjoy the tamed hues like pinks and greens. Divah?!
A Sleek Palette of my own. I got the shade in Aruba which is a bright matte orange. I am lemming for Pan Tao and Suede shades. I bought this for 400 pesos only exclusive of shipping.
I also got myself a new mascara from 4u2 which in all honesty sucks big time! Review to follow soon. haha Ohhh I love blogging about my rants on products. Haha When I hate a product, I would even go an extra mile just to tell my readers not to buy that product. I am now advising everyone not to buy this mascara! tsk tsk This only costs 194 pesos. Whateves. 194 is still money right?! So, if you plan on buying mascara and you do not know what brands are the best? I think that you can never go wrong with Maybelline or Covergirl.
I also bought this Wet n Wild Lipstick in Sugar Plum Fairy for 299 pesos. I miss buying Wet n Wild lipsticks on ebay for 54 pesos only! I bought my Color Icon Lippies for only a fraction of a price two years ago. This shade is a dead ringer for MAC Rebel. I am not into bold and dark lip shades because my lips are really pouty and I have overbite. That being said, I do not want to waste 1000 pesos for something I will not use always so I got the dupe instead. Like I always say. THERE'S ALWAYS A DUPE OUT THERE. Something that will never break the bank but at par with the high end brand.
Yesterday, I went to the K-Palette event and I had a wonderful time meeting the other bloggers again. However, I really enjoyed talking with Jes Roque. She's such a sweetheart and super duper sexy. While we were talking, she told me to use makeup remover instead of toner. Hence, I bought this Purederm Cleansing tissues. I was looking for The Face Shop in Gateway but sadly I found none. They have this budget friendly wipes that I wanted to buy last month. I got this Cleansing Wipes for only 99 pesos. Not bad noh?! I tried it last night and it was okay. It did not remove my mascara and eyeliner so I still have to use my Pond's Cold Cream.
When I attended the Glaminar Workshop, Anna stressed the need to use toner before putting on moisturizer. She was also raving about MAC Fix Spray that time. Then I found this at Watsons for only 129 pesos I think. :) Let's see if this will work on me.
That's it everyone.
Have a blessed Sunday. At the end of the day, let us not be consumed with trivial matters and material things. There are things in life that matters most than makeup, clothes and shoes.
Hi guys! Finally, a decent blog post after days of being too busy with work. I bought this powder because of my good friend, Say. She recommended it to me and she was raving about it on her Youtube channel. I had a hard time finding this particular product at the 4u2 counters because this was always out of stock. I bought this two weeks ago (I think.. I did not keeptrack of time). I use this everyday and I already hit pan. This only costs 194 pesos. This powder has three shades and all three have yellow tones.
The packaging is very cute. It actually looks like a toy with all the cute doodles and drawings on it. The packaging is okay and not flimsy at all. It came with a small mirror.Btw, I am not a fan of small mirrors .
The weight of this powder is really light. Perfect for travelling and it does not consume a lot of space in my makeup kit. This is contrary to my Fanny Serrano Powder that is way too bulky. Look how small it is! It can almost fit perfectly on my palm.
It came with a sponge which is very thin and flimsy. I like to use a flat top brush for application but in sealing my concealer, I use this sponge.
Firstly, let me clear that this is not a foundation. For me, it is just a pressed powder. Thus, I take back what I said in my FB Page. This cannot replace my FS foundation!!! I got my perfect shade match in No.2! Amazing! I just love how it looks so natural on my skin. Furthermore, it is very light as if I am not wearing any powder at all! for a week, I really thought that this was the best product. This was the time when my face was at its best. No rashes, no dryness and no zits! I was even plotting a hoarding scheme for shade no.2!haha No joke! However, this week, my face turned ballistic once again. It became so irritated that my rashes were inflamed and there were dry patches all over my face. Then, when I used this powder, I had a hard time blending it and making it work with a rash full face (is there such a term? haha). Also, to prevent caking, I have to wait for my moisturizer to dry completely. Like most pressed powders, this can really highlight the dry areas of the skin. I noticed upon close examination of my face under natural light that there were parts that were accentuated due to dryness. Also, this powder can cake big time especially if the base foundation or concealer is not properly set. I cannot use this powder by itself. It can make my skin look really blotchy. The best part is - this is the best setting powder I have ever tried especially with liquid foundations. I just had to make sure that my liquid foundation is properly blended and set. I think this is due to the fact that it is designed to be lightweight. Another good thing about this product is the oil control factor. I only retouch once in the office and that's it (btw, I have normal to dry skin). Also, the only part that becomes oily is my Tzone. I have also noticed that my blush stays longer on my cheeks!! This does not have any weird or funky scent. It did not cause me any breakouts either. This is really great for touch ups.
Shade No. 2 I was contemplating on getting NO.3 but thank Heavens I got this one. It looks perfect for my NC35 skin.
The coverage itself is not superlight. It is actually light to almost medium coverage. It can seal the base makeup really well.
Overall, I love this powder! It is very affordable, matches my skintone very well and it feels so light on the skin. This is perfect for everyday use!
Neutrogena BB Cream plus 4u2 Dream Girl Superlight BB Powder (My daily must haves!) Please excuse my weird brows in this picture. haha
