It's the time of the year where splash of bright colors abound. Summer is just my lame excuse to try out loud and vibrant colors without any indicia of hesitation. I have been stuck in the neutrals arena for over a year now and it is getting boring. So, I want to go back to the colors I am not afraid of wearing even on a rainy day. A hot pink or a tangy coral lipstick speeds up my makeup routine because I tend wear minimal makeup when I am wearing scene stealer shades esp. for the day. Bright lipsticks can glam up a simple look or even a no makeup look. I have a accumulated few lippies perfect for this hot season. If I would be stripped of practicality within me, I would be listing down Mac Cany yumyum, Nars Schiap, Mac Morange, etc. However, I would love to stick to the budget friendly lippies that have phenomenal colors like the ones I have mentioned.
Look! Nothing above 350 500 pesos!
Here are the swatches of the bright lippies that are very affordble.
Let's start with the famous Maybelline Vivids. I know this lipsticks re not locally available but I bought this for only 300 pesos at www.kitshop.multiply.com or https://www.facebook.com/bonmarchepage?fref=ts I heard a lot of good things about this lipstick. When kitshop had it, I did not hesitated at all. I was hoping that I could wear Vivid Rose everyday. I was quite shocked when I saw the colors. They are super bright, pigmented and eye catching. What I hate about this lipstick is the scent. It smells like the lipstick that my mom used to wear when I was five. I find it quite disturbing but I can't resist the color pay off of this product.
This is the actual color of the lipsticks when swatched on the back of my hand and even on the tube.
Vivid Rose reminds me a lot of Lime Crime's Centrifuschia. This is a vibrant deep fuschia.
I was expecting Shocking Coral to look pink peach on my lips just like the swatches online. However, this color is a neon salmon pink on me. A lot of times it tends to look like a hot Barbie Pink on my dark lips.
One of the first lipstick I bought in January. I was planning to do a review bout it but ended up tossing the pictures I took in the recycle bin. This is the Nichido HD lipstick in Pretty Tulip. I was surprise when I saw this lipstick in the mall and I bought it on a whim. The color got me. For only 198 pesos, I gave this lippie a try. This is quite unforgiving with people with dry and chapped lips. It can highlight even the driest parts. I suggest exfoliating the lips before using this product and applying balm for added moisturization. The good news about this lippie is its staying power. It can stay on my lips for house even after eating. It leaves a hot pink stain on my lip after a long number of hours. I do not have to retouch often.
The color Pretty Tulip is a beautiful bright hot pink lipstick with semi matte finish.

Have you seen Angel Locsin's Folded and HUng Summer Ad? That led me to a romance with Orange lipstick. Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Hot Summer is a true orange shade. The color applies matte which has a strong tendency to dry out my lips. This color can intimidate some people so I suggest going one notch darker with Ever Bilena Matte Lipstick in Autumn Breeze.
Have you heard about Ever Bilena's Xtreme Shine Lip COlour in 711. This only costs a whopping 75 pesos. This lippie is perfect for those who just want a wash of color without the OTT pigmentation of lipsticks. This is a sheer yet buildable glossy lippie. No need to add lipgloss when using this. 711 is a reddish orange color on my lips.
Etude House Dear My Jelly Lips in JKP002 This is tinted glossy balm that applies smoothly. The shade is reddish pink on me but appears red in the pictures. I forgot to take a lip picture of the Etude House Cupcake All Over COlor in Raspberry. This products has never left my makeup kit as soon as I got it. It is housed in cute tin can and smells super good. I was a bit skeptical with it but the color showed beautifully on my dark lips. It has become my got to product because I use it on my cheeks and lips. What colors will you rock this summer? I am still in search for a beautiful pink lipstick with a punch of purple. Godbless everyone!
Hello again. Before heading out, I just want to share this DIY Lipstick Palette. Last month, I was on the verge of throwing out lipsticks because my stash is too cluttered. I rarely use these lipsticks. Then, I realized that I could still keep them by turning them into a palette. I bought this medicine/pill box from Beabi for only 40 pesos. Beabi is the best place to go if you are in the looking for reasonably-priced and multi-functional travel and storage bags and containers.
1. Scrape off your lipstick and place the lipstick on a spoon. 2. Place the spoon on top of direct heat. I used a candle for this. 3. Then pour the melted lipstick on a container of your choice.
It was really quick and easy to do. However, be careful with the melted lipstick. My lipsticks were popping when they reached the boiling point!
So what I meant about pipitsugin are the cheap lippies I have like Ever Bilena, ELF and Aido. When I melted the lippies, their colors showed beautifully.
The finished product! Bongga!
This is perfect for those who loves to travel and loves to bring tons of makeup like me. I need not worry bringing a lot of lipsticks when I can bring six colors in one container.
Hi guys! The hall of shame represents the worst products that I have tried last year. They are in this list because these products did not work for me or some just fail in shade selection and other criteria.
Chanel Mascara Base Beaute I was thrilled (to the bones haha) when I got this. I told myself finally my first mascara base and it is CHANEL!! I remembered during my college years I went crazy with Maybelline XXL Mascara. Anyone remembers this? The dual ended mascara where you get the normal mascara on one end and the other was a base. I love that so much!! Anyways never be deceived with the brand. What it does? Yes it lengthened my lashes however it was very clumpy my lashes looked like lumpy spider legs. (awkward!!) I am not a fan of this look because I wanted volumized but well separated lashes. It does not hold my curls either. So much of having a Chanel mascara (at least when someone asks me,what is it? I could loudly say OH IT IS CHANEL..hahaha), I would rather buy korean cosmetics that carries mascara base or those mascaras with fibre.
Professional Touch Styling Mousse I was looking for this particular V05 hair mousse (the one that can be used with iron curlers..) at Watsons which is unfortunately unavailable at that moment. The only hair mousse that caught my eye was this. This only costs 149 pesos. I bet now you know why I bought it. It was the cheapest hair mousse! This product does not do anything at all. It says extra hold but id did not curled my hair. It did not even hold my hair. It absolutely did nothing!
Pure Beauty Super Brightening Eye Gel Ok. With its name, I was expecting that it will brighten my eyes, remove the puffiness and dark circles with regular use. Guess what? It also did not nothing. I religiously used it every night and before I put make up on.
SanSan Concealer Initially, I love this concealer! A lot! However, the shades are very limited. I got this in olive and it looked way too light on me. Texture, consistency and longevity is really good. I also think that this is the culprit which caused the darkening of my under eyes. I have dark eye bags but it got worse when I started using this.
Ever Bilena Pro Shimmer lipstick The berry rose shade was really nice. It was a close dupe for Barry M shocking pink however rosette just had to be thrown to the trash bin! I bought this on sale for 60 pesos. It was one of the new lip products of Ever Bilena at that time. When I swatched rosette, it was a gorgeous coral pink shade. Nothing I have ever seen, very unique color. Then I tried it on my lips when I went home, Ughhh!!! Worst lip product ever.. This is not exaggeration but truth. It has this gritty texture and the smell was horrible. It was like plastic. It won't even blend on my lips. It looks streaky when applied. I contacted Ever Bilena about this but they did not respond. I really thought I got an expired product but I read from a blogger that she did not like rosette too.
ELF Essentials lipsticks You all know how I love ELF products. I think this is one of the cheapest makeup brand that produces good quality products. These are the 1$ lipsticks. I got gypsy which is a very beautiful deep purple pink shade and seductive which is a beautiful medium neutral pink. The pigmentation is really good. The downside? They are super drying on my lips and the lipsticks themselves are also dry. I had to reapply more lipbalm than usual when I use these. I have read a lot of good reviews about this products. Perhaps, my lips was just too dry for these lipsticks. :C
Go Natural Lip Sugar Scrub Apply petroleum jelly on your lips and scrub it with sugar and you'll get the same effect when you use this. That's it! Now, I wonder why did I ever bought this?!?
Nichido Minerals Spot Concealer This is very creamy when swatched but when I tried using it on my blemishes it was too dry. It highlighted my blemishes instead of concealing them. However, I like to use it as a liner on my lower lash line to brighten up my eyes but as a concealer -- NAH!
Aido Eye Putti This was my first ever eyelash adhesive 3 years ago. Now, it does not even stick my falsies properly. My falsies kept on falling down when I use this. I found a better alternative which is the Nichido Lash adhesive which only costs 60 pesos.. :D
Ever Original Brow Pencil in Brown The shade has a tiny hint of red and it looked so fake on my natural brows. This looks good on other Filipina Youtube Gurus.. Sigh. :C
Avon Smooth Minerals Mascara This does not hold my curls at all and it even makes my lashes weigh down. It is also very clumpy. It did not lengthen nor created volume on my lashes.
(photo not mine,credits to owner)
Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Shine Free Foundation I have normal to dry skin and this was way too powdery for me. It was also very cakey and heavy for my taste. I also had a hard time choosing my right shade. I got in sand beige and it was an epic fail.
Etude House Color Me Nude Lip Concealer I bought this on a whim because as you all know I have dark lips. I wanted the MAC lip erase so bad but ended up with this one. It does a good job of concealing my dark lips and my lipstick looks better when I use this but it was very drying. My lips also looked cakey and too much made my lips look weird. It also settles on the fine lines. I would rather use a concealer than buy this one again since this product does not add moisture nor make lipsticks last long. It is just like a normal concealer (only for the lips though). What products did you regret buying last year? Care to share? Godbless everyone.. :D
It is the stall most of you just pass by when you go to the department store. Ever Bilena, Nichido and Careline.. Who would love these makeup if you can buy Nars and MAC in a jiffy. I never thought being jobless and bum (since I plan to get a job on January.. oh please spare me this holiday season.. I just need a good break. :D) could lead me to enjoy more of Filipino made Makeup products. They are really cheap and affordable. I was hella scared trying blushes and foundations from these makeup brands because I broke out from Ever Bilena Foundation always. It never fails. Thus, such incident created this stigma that I need to stay away from their face products. Their lip and eye makeup are good enough for the price you pay. I was the usual bum surfing the net when I chance upon dazzler's review on this blush. Here is her link. I am looking for a nice coral/peachy shimmery blush for the holidays. I told you I am loving shimmers lately. I was also thinking of getting Sleek Powder Blush in Rose Gold because of the gold sheen effect of it. What do you think? Anyways, my all time favorite pink blush is from Ever Bilena too. The shade is Pink Petal. Click here for more information. So, I thought that this blush is also worth a try since I did not break out from their blush.
If I saw this blush on stand, I would not dare swatch it at all. It looks so light it's as if it would not show up on my medium yellow toned skin. However, when I saw Dazzler's review, I just can't wait to get one for myself. I asked my mom to get one for me that same day when I read the review. HAHA When I got it, I tested it outright. OMG!! It's one of the most beautiful blush for me. This is not exaggeration. LOL I was really looking for this shade. I was thinking of getting the ELF studioline blush in Candid Coral because of Judy. Check out her video to see how gorgeous her cheeks look with the ELF blush.
However, when I went to the ELF counter to swatch the candid coral, the color does not show really well on me. :C
One swipe. The shade is a beautiful coral on a peachier note. It has a subtle shimmer and gives my skin that much coveted glow!! I seriously love it.
The shade is very buildable too. I love it!!!! For 110 pesos, it is a very FAB FIND!
What is your favorite coral blush? Care to share? Godbless everyone!
I got this foundation because of my addiction to Filipina makeup gurus in youtube. The last time I use Ever Bilena Foundation was way back in college but it was an epic fail. Are you sensing an epic fail once again?? Hmm... I saw Say, Maricarl Janah and even Judy of itsjudytime feature this product.
Say's Channel (She's getting better and she's a cutie and very humble too!!She's a fellow Thomasian!)
This is my favorite video of hers.
Maricarl Janah's Channel
She was raving this foundation in this video.
And Finally, Judy!!
Moving on to the review, this product is available in a pump bottle too. I bought the one in a tube because I wanted to test this first because I have a bad history with Ever Bilena Foundation. I got the shade Golden but I noticed that it was a little bit lighter than my skin tone. So, I got another shade in Oriental.
The packaging is really bad!! Look at that humongous hole!! Using the tube one is really messy because the product easily squirts out of the tube. BOO!
Price:10/10 for 125 pesos for the 40 ml. This is one of the cheapest liquid foundation locally available
Packaging:3/10 Although the tube packaging is travel friendly, be ready for accidental spills inside your makeup kit or even on your fave shirt!
Coverage:4/10 I am a foundation freak and I prefer those with medium - heavy coverage especially on special occasions but not for everyday wear. I bought this for everyday wear. This has a sheer-light coverage. I need to put at least two layers to even out my skintone.
Finish:8/10 This gives me a lovely dewy glow. I just love how it makes my skin looks bright and even without making it look fake.
Lasting Effect:5/10 It can make me look fresh for an our or two. I must say that retouching is a must if you do want to look like a greaseball at the end of the day.
When blended, there is just a small difference between the two shades. Being NC37, my shade is mixture of these.I am really disappointed with local makeup companies.I have a hard time choosing the right shade. I hope they will try considering the skin tones and shades of Filipinas more.
See how sheer the coverage is?
After 2 days of using it, here's what I got! A zit on the nose. Chanelling rudolph in summer is so uncool! I even got clogged pores and bumps too! I do not know if this is the ultimate culprit. I just hope not. I stopped using it now and my face is getting better.
Way back in college, I would love to wear pink blushes specifically those light shimmery ones. And guess what? They look blahhhh on me. I never understood why light purplish pink blushes never worked on me. From then on, I tried to stay away from pink blushes. I would usually wear peach and red shades. Until I got a blush from mary kay the shade was pink flamingo (yup i never forgot). This is the only pink blush that worked perfectly on me. The bubblegum pink looks so pretty and addicting to wear too. I wore it almost everyday. Then I hit the pan and poof i finished it. I tried to find an exact shade but it only points to one brand-- MAC. I guess I was in the verge of buying Pink Swoon or Well Dressed but being too kuripot (stingy.. I did not haha). I can actually remember it was a day before my preliminary examinations that I chanced upon this blush. I was ecstatic! For a 100 pesos (err I think it was like 88 pesos back then I can't actually remember), it was love love love!! This is my second pot!! This is one of the few blushes I used up till the end and will definitely repurchase!!!
This looks perfect on my NC 37 (medium yellow toned) skin. It gives me that sweet look. It is the kind of blush that I just fall in love with every time I wear it because it brightens up my face.
With one swipe.
The color is sheer but buildable.
What is your favorite pink blush? Care to share?
Advance Merry Christmas everyone!! I know you have been wondering.. where's the white in her eye makeup?? ughhh!! My camera can't pick up the silver and white shimmers especially when I take close up pictures.. I used my ever bilena glitter liner in white diamonds.
Ever Bilena Glitter Eyeliner
I love this glitter liner which only costs 100 pesos. I was supposed to buy the Etude House Tear Drop Liner but this one is a close match and it way cheaper. It really looks shimmery white when used.
Here is a swatch of this liner. It looks really shimmery and look nice in highlighting your tearduct.. This looks very festive too and perfect for the Holidays that is why I created this look.
I also got a not so nice pair of lashes from HBC as shown in this picture. I also lined my waterline with white pencil and my eyes looked weird and big!! I am so not used to it. My eyes looks different on the photo below..
Products Used for the Eyes:
Dollface AVant Garde Palette
L'oreal Lineur Intense
Beauty and Minerals Mink eyeshadow

IN2IT 2 way foundation in Harvest
ELF all over face color in persimmon
NYX blush in Angel
AVon Dual Ended lipstick in Rose Quartz
Did you notice I am back to BLACK?? Yep,, I dyed my hair Brown Black and it turned soooo black on me.. hehe Thank God the color somehow faded a bit.. And I finally got a haircut.. Hmmm I do not know if I am loving it though..
BTW, I am so loving Charm Flat top Brush. It gives a very nice and even coverage. I use it in applying my foundation. :D
