Four or five years ago,I idolized Fafinettex and Misschievous on youtube who never fails to showcase their talents by featuring smokey eye looks. Thus, going minimalist was not in my vocabulary back then. I was a fan of black eyeliner (which makes my eyes look smaller and gave me that strong look), bright colored lipstick and shocking eyeshadow shades. After graduating in lawschool, my preference suddenly changed. From bold looks, I learn to love neutrals and last 2012 I learned to love the idea that less is more.
For the face, I always make sure that I use moisturizer and sunblock. In this look, I use Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Foundation in Warm Golden. Applying concealer to cover up dark circles is a must. I use my fave concealer (in 2012) which is the K-Palette Zero Kuma Concealer in No. 2. Then, I set my whole face with Fanny Serrano Powder Foundation in Chino.
For the eyes, I tightline with the use of Nichido Kohl Minerals Eyeliner in Onyx. To brighten up the face (minus the highlighter) , focus on your eyes. It is best to use a good mascara to open up your eyes and to prevent it from looking droopy. I used one of the best mascara I have ever tried which is the Fairy Drops Volume Burst Mascara.
This mascara has a tacky but light formula which is best for those with sparse lashes. It lengthens my lashes and gives it that much needed volume. It dries quickly. It does not weigh down my lashes. What I love about this mascara is that it can hold my curl for hours. I have the bad habit of recurling my lashes throughout the day and with this mascara I experience no lash breakage at all. I think this is attributable to the formula of this mascara which does not make my lashes too stiff and too hard.
The brush applicator is very unique too. It can evenly distribute the product on my lashes even those hard to reach areas like those in the inner corner of the eyes. It also applies mascara perfectly on my lower lashes.
Before the tragedy, I discovered this product. No, this is not a new product from ELF but I just discovered a new way of using their concealer kit in the shade - dark. I have been a fan of contouring my face primarily because I have chubby cheeks and a flat nose. Contouring has been my best friend because it can literally make me look good in pictures. I use this concealer kit as a base for my matte bronzer. The colors are all usable. With this as a base, my contours can last half day without retouching esp. on the nose bridge. (Take note I have dry skin so the longevity of makeup will vary depending on your skin type).
Here are the swatches:
For the lips, I use Nichido lip liner in Rosette and a peach lipstick from Sophie Paris' Satinlips Mini Lipstick Collection.
For only less than 250 pesos, you get 8 different shades of mini lipstick. I think this idea is quite ingenious especially for a brand that retails their product through a catalog. The shades seen on the catalog is not always the actual shade of the product. If you would like to try their satin lipstick and you do not know what shade looks best on you or if the formula will suit you, buying this sample size collection is the best.
BF loves this minimalist look. It only proves that you don't need to much product to enhance your beauty.
Godbless everyone!!
P.S. All pictures are taken before the tragedy. Thus, I cannot give a full blown review of the products I have mentioned because I have used them for a short period of time only.
It is official! I am back doing makeup posts again. How I miss doing makeup looks especially the wild and crazy colors that are not even wearable for everyday wear. haha I wanted to make a fall makeup look but ended up picking bright colors. I used my Wet n Wild Palette in Lust and Pride to create this look. Honestly, I had a hard time picking the shades for this look. It has been a long time since I played with makeup and I truly felt like a newbie once again. I was used to making neutral eye makeup and mixing colors now seemed really hard.
I never knew that my brows were crooked until I uploaded the photos. Waahh!
Products Used for the Eyes:
Wet n Wild Palette in Lust
Wet n Wild Palette in Pride
KKcenter shimmery Palette
Nichido Mineral Kohl Liner in Onyx
L'oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black
Saizen Falsies
ELF Stick Primer and Liner Sealer ELF Eyeliner in Coffee K-Palette Black Liquid Liner
For the Face and Lips, I used: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Cream Foundation in Warm Golden Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Goddess MAC Blush in Gingerly Wet n Wild Lipstick in Pinkerbell EOS Lipbalm
Doing this post made me miss law school days so much. During those times, all I ever do was study like there's no tomorrow and think of blog post ideas. :) I would love to hear your suggestions on what makeup (FOTD and EOTD) look you would like to see on my future posts. I hope you miss my makeup posts because I surely did! Godbless everyone!
I am still alive. :) Hello MLI readers! I know I have not been blogging lately primarily because of my career/profession. A lot of wonderful opportunities have been presented to me and I am just overwhelmed with these blessings. All my praises and thanks to the Almighty. As you all know, blogging is not my bread and butter (I wish it was!). Thus, my career comes first before blogging. I want to thank my readers who still frequent my blog despite my intermittent posts. I know most of you love my blog because of the makeup looks I did before. I am trying my best to bring them back, just trying to get settled with my career. I do not want my blog to be all beauty reviews and swatches! waahh. This is what the makeup that I will wear everyday in the office or when I go out with boyfriend. Well, I was never fond of wearing eyeshadow when going out. This is nothing special but I want to share this post to all of you.
I never go out of the house without moisturizer. I am loving my physiogel cream. :) My rashes are now gone. Also, I am now back with Belo Face Sunblock SPF45 because I ran out of my Neutrogena Hydroboost which I really love.
After applying moisturizer and sunblock (I do not apply toner), I applied my HG liquid foundation- MAC Studiofix in NC35. I do not normally wear this everyday. For everyday use, I tend to reach for my BB Creams more often. Then I applied concealer under my under eyes. I use my favorite K Palette Zero Kuma Concealer. I am addicted to using cosmetic wedges (sponge) lately. I got a great deal on this one. I bought a 32 pc. pack in Landmark for 119.75 pesos only. The brand is Cala Studio.
For the eyes, these are the products I have been using everyday. Just the essential, L'oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black, Nichido Mineral Kohl Liner in Onyx, K-Palette 2 Way Lasting Brow Liner, K-Palette Liquid Liner, and my Nichido Mineral Concealer. I use my Nichido Mineral Concealer to line my waterline. I took note of one anonymous comment on my blog telling me that my eyes looked smaller with black liner on my waterline. Thanks for this comment whoever you are! :) I am loving the effect of the Nichido Concealer in the shade Natural on my waterline. It gives my eyes a brightening effect without looking too unnatural.I find using white eyeliner on my waterline may look a bit too harsh for everyday wear. :( . I can not find a beige eyeliner here in the Philippines but this concealer pencil works perfectly fine. It did not cause any irritation to my eyes. Also, I have been obsessed with piling up loads of mascara on my lower lashes. This technique made my eyes look bigger.
On my lips: EOS lipbalm, Nichido lip liner in Rosette and NYX soft matte lipcream. I have to admit, I am addicted to the NYX Soft Matte lip creams. I did not like them initially but after months of usage, I am in love with it. Perfect for everyday wear especially the shades Stockholm and Antwerp. I badly need back ups for these shades.
Loving the combination of Wet n Wild Goddess Bronzer as contour powder and NYX in Pinched which is a great knock off for Nars blush in Orgasm. I am currently sick right now and I am taking this opportune time to update this blog.
Hi everyone! This will be just a quick blog post. I just remembered that I still have old photos in my old computer. I realized that I could reupload the makeup looks that I did before through Flashback Fridays for my new readers to see my previous old creations. :) I chose this look first because I never thought that silver/gray shadows would look gorgeous when paired with a reddish shade. I could still remember that I made this look from a Tropez Palette. I challenged myself to make the colors work and I love the final look.
I just love how I lined my eyes. If you would ask me to do that now, I will be surely struggling. hehe
Virginia Olsen is 100% natural, paraben free, bismuth & talc free, and pure mineral make-up suitable for women of any age, ethnicity or skin type. Our formulations are calming to the skin, making them ideal for women prone to sensitivities; and being fragrance-free, they are particularly compatible with delicate skin, giving a sheer, natural, flawless coverage. Further, our makeup unlocks the therapeutic properties of zinc oxide and the natural sunscreen provided by titanium dioxide. Purity also explains the ultra-smooth texture and versatility of Virginia Olsen. Even the sheerest of applications goes on smooth, creamy and consistent and will not clump or fade. Other mineral makeup is stretched with a variety of fillers, such as talc, to bulk-up the quantity of the product and the margin of profit. Not only do these products cause caking and creasing, but they can cause skin irritation, rashes and allergic reactions.
Hi everyone! How was your day? Mine was really great. I got to visit my grandfather's grave in Antipolo after my hearing a while ago and I also heard last Sunday's church service which I failed to attend to because I went on a vacation. Anyways, it was as if it was only yesterday when my sorority sister told me that she will be bringing a mineral makeup line here in the Philippines. Now, Virginia Olsen Minerals has finally hit Philippine shores. I am not an avid fan of mineral makeup. I could still remember women in girltalk buying samples (1/8 tsp to 1/2tsp) online and these were placed in tiny zip lock plastic bags. I did not jump into the mineral makeup craze. I just had a few pots (the most was five) and that's it. I never thought of buying more. However, I was always fascinated on the benefits mineral makeup gives. The few I have tried never broke me out at all. When I heard that my sorority sister was bringing in Virginia Olsen here, I was prodding her to bring the Milani instead. Haha When I saw the initial samples of V.O. Minerals, I went wild in her office. I had swatches on my arms, excitedly reading the labels and I just could not stop asking her questions. haha
I love the natural lighting in Batangas. I took a lot of shots but these are a few that I really like.
I think that the Virginia Olsen Minerals is one of the mineral makeup that has the best packaging. I also like the fact that what is written in their label is the true weight of the product and not the capacity of the container. Also, they have a wide range of color selection especially for eyeshadows. I was contemplating on buying the mineral liners when I went to the Rockwell Urban Bazaar because they looked pretty and I have not yet tried using mineral powders as liners.
I know you all thought that I got the shade in Donnarence. Haha I did not. I picked a shade that is actually wearable for everyday in the office. (Here I go again with neutrals and wearble hues.. haha) I chose Olive Branch. The shade is a dark olive green with golden shimmers.
The color is very pigmented . With pigments, I prefer to use apply it wet rather than dry to prevent a lot of fall outs or through foiling method. This will make the shades appear more vibrant and the loose powder will readily adhere to your lid. I also suggest using a primer which is creamy to be used as a base.
The golden shimmers are very prominent.
In real life, the colors appeared dark green but when I took a photo, my eyeshadow turned gold with a hint of green. :)
For blush, I got the shade in Terra Cotta. In the jar, it does not look like TerraCotta shade at all. It looked more of a light peachy pink.
Does this look Terra Cotta ish to you? If no, then I am not color blind at all. hehe
When swatched, it turned into a nice peach color with tiny (as in almost unnoticeable)silver shimmers. It applies smoothly on my cheeks. A word of caution, be careful in applying this blush. Do not over apply and make sure the blush sets before applying another layer. I know this might look too pale in the container but it is actually quite pigmented but not overtly pigmented like my Sleek blush or Mac. I was in the cab when I tried it on my cheeks. I was not satisfied with one layer because it looked so light and I really could not see the color then I applied two more layers.. When I look at the mirror to have check on my makeup, Lo and behold, I looked like a clown. wahhh Make sure you apply a thin layer first and wait for the color to blend on your skin. This blush lasted fairly well on my dry skin like 3 hours or so.
I want to try more from Virginia Olsen. I have been using their blush for days now and I like it. No break outs too. I was thinking of trying out their Green Tea or Hide a Pore line. They also have a nice range of matte bronzers that do not have the reddish tints that look so unnatural.
Hi everyone! I was debating with myself if I should put up this EOTD since I was not very satisfied with my imperfectly done winged liner. Hehe I still feel like a makeup newbie every time I line my upper lid. I am trying my best to wear makeup to the office esp. eyeshadows. [Oohh if you'll see me at work, I look like shit. hehe Blame it to the sleepy lazy me. :p]
Anyways, this is the look I wore last Sunday. Yes, I went to church with full makeup. :) I am going to see the King of Kings.. Why not look my best, right? :))
My eyeliner looks so pigmented noh? I used my K Palette Liquid Liner in Super Black (the limited edition) but my Maybelline Crayon Liner is very tricky to use. However, despite this, I am loving its super rich pigmentation and creamy texture.Products used: K Palette Lasting 2 way Eyebrow K Palette 1 Day tattoo Liquid Liner in Super Black Etude House Proof 10 E/s Primer Wet N Wild Vanity Palette Maybelliner Black Crayon Liner (the 149 pesos one.. This is darker compared to Nichido Mineral Liner in Onyx.. Do you want a review on this? Just drop a comment below if you want one! ) L'oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black
My favorite eyeshadow palette as of the moment is from Wet n Wild The shade is Vanity Palette.I will be making a full review with swatches on this palette next week.
I love the combination of matte and shimmery eyeshadows. I am planning to get the 8 pan palettes in Petal Pusher and Comfort Zone. I just hate how expensive Wet n Wild costs here in the Philippines. I can't wait for my trip to the US and Canada (God willing I will go there next year.. Tipid tipid na talaga! haha) I will definitely hoard drugstore makeups like Wet n Wild and Milani.
What is your current favorite eyeshadow palette?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this. I do not like eyeshadow palettes with gazillion of shades anymore. I remembered how crazy I was with 88 colors or the one with 180 shades. LOL Gone are the days when I thought I could wear neon green eyeshadows anywhere. Now, I want travel friendly palettes like this with wearable hues for everyday wear.
Hi everyone! As I have said in my previous post, I miss doing Face of the day and eye of the day. I did this look last week. I tried to work on the colors available on my Sephora palette. The palette consists of shimmery shadows. I really think that matte shadows are more photogenic than shimmery ones. Don't you think? I used false lashes from Landmark but I do not like it as much as HBC falsies . I am also planning to enroll in a makeup school. yey!! Imagine that I am a litigation lawyer during the weekdays and a makeup artist on weekends! Bonggalore! haha
Anyways, here are the products I used to achieve this eye makeup look:
Sephora Oh my Cherie Palette Landmark False Eyelashes Nichido Mineral EYeliner in Onyx Nichido Minerals Liquid Liner ELF Eye Primer and Liner Sealant
This looks a lot like my previous EOTD. I just realized it when I am uploading the pictures.
I tried posing for the camera! I really tried. Haha
My hair looks horrible and super oily that day.
I miss my long hair. I am now regretting I cut it. I want it back asap. :( The lipstick I am wearing is from Maybelline Moisture Extreme in Angel Rose. I love the shade but damn I hate the plastic smell. I should have gotten NYX Round lipstick in FIG Which is my ultimate favorite light pink lipstick.

Here is the Sephora Palette I used.
Who is going to the Supersale Bazaar this coming weekend? I have saved enough money to burn there! hehe
I feel old. Do not get me wrong I am not experiencing a quarter life crisis just yet. It is just that I miss those days when I lock myself in my room and play with makeup. Haha I attempted to do a look today. It looks so bland. The lack luster feel of it made me erase every single photo but I left this one for this post. Waahh,,, I should do more Fotds since there are no photos of my works anymore.. I need inspiration. I do not want to immerse myself with annulment cases anymore. Haha I feel so stressed hearing marital problems! It does not help me in coping with my relationship right now.
When asked by my boss "are you now losing faith in marriage?"
My answer: Hell no! I am LOSING FAITH IN MEN. :))
Anyways, hopefully I can create and recreate more looks soon. Don't you think? Btw, I do not wear eye makeup in the office. You would rarely see me with eyeshadow on. That's why I miss playing with makeup. Haha
Here is something I like to play with soon. A gift from my cousin. Isn't it cute?
I will be going to Iloilo tomorrow. Wish me godspeed and a safe trip.
Thank you Lord for the blessing of life and the opportunity to have a profession. Let me feel your grace every minute of my life. Let me appreciate You more and the blessings that you are giving me.
Also, my warmest thank you to everyone who messaged me and commented on my last post. Thank you Thank you.
Let us be thankful in all circumstances. Godbless everyone!
Hi guys.. This picture may not be the most photogenic and enticing makeup look that I ever did but I wore this look for like five straight days and everyone was just asking me how I did it and if I am the one who did my makeup (errr.. who else???). This is a very easy and simple everyday makeup look. I can do this look for like 10 minutes or even less.
My skin looks so dry in the pictures... waahhh In real person, I swear this eye makeup looks so nice . It gives me that posh, neat and elegant look without looking too much. You can change the eyeshadows but I chose taupe since it defines my eyes more than the usual brown. Choose a matte shadow for the crease area and highlight with a shimmery (not too much...) highlighter and it will create a beautiful gradient and texture on your lid.
Some tips for a quick everyday makeup:
1.You can save time by creating a base color with your own foundation. Apply your concealer or primer over your lid and set it with powder or powder foundation.
2.The problem with most Asian women is that when they apply eyeshadows on their crease, it tends to disappear once they open their eyes. The reason being is that Asians do not have that deep socket in their eyes compared to Caucasians. I always watch Sam and Nic (PIXIWOO in Youtube) and I get frustrated because copying their looks takes more time since I have to deepen, darken and create the illusion of deep set eyes.
3. Skip the flick or winged eyeliner (when you go to the office, you have a formal event that requires a more professional look in school.. uhmm you get what I mean.. :D). Come on ladies!! Your boss will not compliment you and say, "OMG, you are so kawaii!!!"haha Well, perhaps in your dreams he/she will. :p In the office, if you'll meet a client or have a formal school presentation or reporting.. You do not sport the Tsubasa makeup!!Hello? It took me years to let go of the winged eyeliner craze. I know it looks so good but then there are times that I just had to grab a q-tip and erase that flick because it looks so unnatural and attention grabbing too. If you are in high school or in college, the winged eyeliner looks so cool. Let us get real here, ladies. We must dress appropriately and look (makeup wise) appropriately too.
Sample of Winged liner makeup (photo not mine.credits to the owner)
4. Find products that saves you time in makeup application. As for me, I can use my Nichido Pencil Eyeliner to line my waterline, line my upper lid and tightline my eyes. Also, I can use my ELF matte bronzer as an eyeshadow too. :D
My whole look. Uhmm.. excuse my weird grin.. :p
Here is the tutorial.. Enjoy.. Do not forget to subscribe!!
Btw, my cam says it can record in HD but in Youtube it does not show that it is in HD.. I cannot figure it out.. Hmmm.. Anways, I just finished watching the movie, "The Vow." Hmmm.. I am not a love story movie lover.. I am more of the end of the world/apocalypse/alien invasion/action packed movie addict. I do not get the story behind the amnesia thing in love story but two of my favorite movies of all time follow the same trend. :D
Have you watched this?
A Moment to Remember
My mom and I cried a river when we watched this. This is better than the Notebook. I also love that movie!! Ohhh do not be deceived by the trailer of the movie, Chronicle. haha I hope you get what I mean. I watched that last week eh. I want to watch Daniel in The Woman in Black!! Hopefully, I could watch that this Sunday.. :D
