I want to use them all asap. Here the products sent to me: Products Glory of New York and Iris Cosmetics
I have been hearing a lot of buzz from this brand for months now. Finally, I have the chance to try them out. Thank you Sis Misty!

This foundation is quite impressive. The coverage and blendability is great. Also, the pot contains A LOT of product which can last me for months or even years.
The shade suits my skintone very well. No white cast and the texture is very creamy. It can even double as a concealer!
Blushes
Lipsticks from GNY and Iris have great color pay off!

I got to excited to post the GIveaway and Contest that I forgot to show you the third batch of prizes for the giveaway. I was honestly expecting 5 brands but the two brands have not yet responded to if they have shipped the prizes. I can not wait for another week to hold the giveaway out of sheer excitement. So I decided to push through last night. I got these from Beauty and Minerals and Charm Brushes. I was very thrilled when Sophie gave me these goodies to share with you. Charm Brushes got the best brushes locally available. I am not saying this because Sophie is a dear friend but it is the truth. The amount of effort she puts in every detail of the brushes she sells is priceless. You can check out my review of the 14 Pc. Vegan Brush Set here: http://www.mylucidintervals.com/2013/02/charm-pretty-in-pink-14-pc-vegan-brush.html I know I am now sounding like a biased advertiser but this is the truth! hahaha Go ahead and invest with your makeup tools. DO not be fooled by cheap and affordable brush sets that may feel soft when tried at the back of your hand but pricks your face on actual use.
Just when I thought that I will not buy brushes for the next years to come. Here is what the grand prize winners of the giveaway and the makeup contest will take home!! Ahhh This is the cutest and lightest makeup brush set I have seen! It can fit perfectly in your purse! I want one na!! waahh DO not worry I did not open the and touch the brushes for sanitary reasons. Thanks Charm Brushes for this awesome goodies! You can check out https://www.facebook.com/CharmMakeupBrush?fref=ts and their online store http://www.beautyandminerals.com/
I grew up seeing Jergen Lotion on my mom's cabinet. When I am experiencing dry and flaky skin due to psoriasis, my mother would always get me a huge bottle of their ultra healing variant. They sent 5 gift packs and sent me products to review!! Thank you so much Jergens. You can find Jergens at leading supermarket, malls and even drugstores locally. Their products are very affordable too! Check out and like: https://www.facebook.com/JERGENSph.Vibelle?fref=ts
Lastly, my HBC family sent these. HBC has been a sponsor of my blog ever since. I always pride myself in being a part of their blogger circle because they offer affordable and proudly Filipino made products!!! Thank you HBC!
Key ingredients: squalene, hyaluronic acid, Vitamins A, C and E, SPF 43 and antioxidant. Lightens dark spots, nourishes skin and protects it from sun damage with antioxidant. Price: 149.75
BB Creams have invaded the local beauty arena last year. Evidently, the clamor for BB creams by Filipina Beauty enthusiasts urged local companies to come out with their own version. San San or HBC launched their first ever BB Cream last year. I got a sample last year but never had the chance to review it because of the tragedy. San San is too sweet to send me new products to review again. Thank you HBC!!
I find the packaging very nice. I love the idea of a pump dispenser. However, there are times when I have issue in dispensing the product. Sometimes, it does not dispense the product quickly. The packaging is very light and perfect for travel.
The packaging is way better than my favorite San San Matte Foundation. Did you know that San San Matte Foundation is one of the products I immediately repurchase after all my makeup got burned?
This BB Cream comes in one shade only. Sadly, the color will not suit gurls and gals with skintone lighter than NC35. Here is a swatch at the back of my hand. Notice that the color is very close to my skintone? Sadly, my arms and hands have a darker tone compared to the rest of my body. Thus, the shade is darker than my face. Whenever I use this alone, my face looks so unnatural and tends to look a bit orange while my neck looks so fair. Hello Oompa Loompa fez!! What I do is I mix this with a lighter shade of BB Cream like the Holika Holika Petit Essential BB cream or use a green makeup base underneath like the Etude House Sweet Recipe Choux Base in Mint. The San San BB Cream plus the ETude House Choux Base = LOVE!!! I have been loving this combo for weeks.
The shade is dark beige with peach undertone.
The texture of this BB Cream is one of the thickest I have tried. It reminds me of the Missha BB Cream but I find SanSan more blendable and creamier. Thus, make sure to use just one pump or more than a pea size amount to prevent caking. The coverage is awesome. For a bb cream, the coverage is quite heavy compared to the others that I have tried. For me, it is like wearing a foundation. It has a full medium coverage which can cover redness, dark spots and dark circles in a jiffy. It gives my face a flawless and even finish. I love using my fingers to spread the product all over my face. The warmth of my fingers makes application easier. This has a semi matte finish, however, this absolutely fails in the oil control department. My face starts to get oily (not dewy) after two or three hours. Take note that I have dry sensitive skin and using this product can make me oil up 2 or 3 hrs after use. Can you imagine how oily skinned gals would look like after hours of using this? Yes, They may probably end up looking like a greaseball. How do I remedy this dilemma? Use a good oil control powder and primer. I use Krave Mineral Oil Eliminator and Skin Hydrator to keep my oilies at bay.
Here are my before and after shots of using this product:
My makeup free face :))
I use more than a pea size amount of product to even out my skin tone.
Tadaaaa!!!! Hands down to the coverage of this BB Cream!!
What I Like About This Product:
The coverage is awesome. The pictures above will explain how great this product is in covering redness, dark spots and even dark circles.
The consistency is very creamy and blendable.
It has SPF 43!!
Very affordable
Locally available
It did not cause any irritation on my skin.
What I Dislike About This Product:
It has only one shade. The color is suitable to morenas and would totally off on fair skinned gals. Dear HBC, please please release a lighter shade of this BB Cream!! PLEASE!!
This product made my skin oily after two or three hours of use.
There are times when the pump dispenser does not work or dispense the product quickly.
Overall, I highly suggest this product to Morena and medium skintoned ladies out there. Finally, a BB Cream that will not make us look like a ghost!!! hehe Just make sure to set it with a good setting powder to prevent your face from oiling up.
I just want to thank HBC. They are very nice and sweet to send me these lashes and a card. I tried creating a look a while ago with these falsies. However, my eyes turned really watery (i have been suffering from watery eyes for weeks now). My eye makeup smudged so bad, thus, I decided not to post pictures on this blog post. These lashes cost more than their regular lashes. Their regular lashes which costs only 20 pesos is my ultimate favorite! I think this falsies costs around 75 pesos. A pair comes with a lash adhesive.
A beautiful Sunday to everyone! I am getting fond of nail polishes lately. Thus, I am slowly learning how to put polish on my nails neatly just like a pro. LOL.. I do have a problem applying nail polish on my right hand nails. My left hand is too shaky and unsteady. I saw these two gorgeous shades at HBC last week. I was actually looking for a blue nail palish but ended up buying green and coral. I bought them for 37 pesos only. Here are the swatches:
Sea Green is my current favorite. I love how the color turned out on my nails. I applied two thick layers and the color turned out very opaque and true to the shade in the bottle. It is a beautiful light shade of minty turquoise green.
I observed that applying in with lightly made it appear streaky so I opted to apply two thick layers on my nails.
Perfectly Pink is a misnomer for the shade. It does not appear pink to me at all. It is a sheer coral color with gold shimmers. This is very easy to apply compared to sea green. However, I applied three layer to get my desired pigmentation.
I think that the color would been more beautiful sans the shimmer. The shade is very dainty and surely BF would approved of the color.. ;)
Hi everyone! I decided to do a hit list post which will feature the products that I am loving lately. I have even considered checking outa list of online cosmetology colleges to discover even more great makeup products from a cosmetology/ makeup class.
In no particular order, my fave products are: 1. Maybelline Baby Lips - Two of my readers commented on how good this product is. I have tried Carmex, Chapstick to Vaseline.. I think this one is the best. Thank you for your recommendation. It moisturizes my lips very well. The balm just don't sit on my lips like a gloss but it does a nice job of making my lips softer and more supple. I have dry lips and I have noticed that I rarely experience chapped lips now. I also love the scent. I think I got the raspberry one. This only costs 79 pesos. I will definitely repurchase.
2. Splash Hair Control Polish - I like this better than a leave on serum. This tames my tresses and baby hair without my hair looking oily. (The trick is not applying too much)
3. Sophia Eyelash Enhancing Kit - I posted an intro post for this product and a monthly update. I am very impressed with this one. A co-employee asked me last week if I my lashes are true or fake. Waahhh Nobody has ever took notice of my lashes before. Click here for more info about this product.
4. Revlon Lip Butters - I have been raving about this lip butters ever since I got them. I use it almost everyday to the office especially pink truffle which is my lips but way better shade. :D Review and Swatches here.
5. San San Rosy Blush - I expressed my profound love for the Peach blush before. I have been liking this blush because it looks similar with my ELF blush, the one in the Studioline blush/bronzer compact. The gold shimmer is not noticeable but gives my face that nice glow. Click here for review and swatches of the San San blushes.
5. Fashion 21 Loose Powder - I honestly did not like this when I bought it at first. I was even thinking of throwing it away but I just kept it inside my makeup drawer for about 2 or 3 months. Again, I was influenced by Filipina Youtube Gurus in buying this product. I find this great for touch ups but not for setting foundation or BB Cream. However, I use this to set my concealer to highlight my under eye because the shade is a bit lighter for my skin tone.
6. Saizen Face Massager - I do not actually know what you call this stuff. Is it a face massager or scrub? I saw a Youtube guru cleaning her face with a face brush (the one used in facials). Having sensitive skin, I have an inkling brushes will definitely not work for me since it will prick my skin. Then I saw this at watsons and I am using this to clean my face every other day (not everyday). I feel that my face becomes softer after using this. I never thought that cleaning one's face can be so relaxing. :D
The tiny bristles are very gentle. Just don't press this hard on your skin.
7. Marionnaud N32 Angled Brush - Fave brush for the moment. I use this for blush application and for contouring my cheeks. I think I should get a back up for this brush.
8. Neutrogena Fine Fairness Bb Cream - I am using this everyday! More about this product soon.
9. MAC Gingerly Blush - This is my go to blush as of the moment. I find the shade very versatile. I can use this with a pink, peach or red lipstick!! Also, JlovesMAC love this blush too. :D
The shade is a very warm peach blush with brownish red undertones.
10. Nichido Tru Lashes Eyelash Adhesive - I was very disappointed with Aido and I was in search for a nice lash adhesive. During one makeup gig with my sorority sister, I was amazed that she was wearing falsies since 8 am and it was still on her until I went home (around 7pm). I was surprised when she showed me a tiny bottle which is very familiar because I have been seeing it always at the Nichido Counters. I was also thrilled that it only costs 60 pesos!! This tiny bottle does a great job. It dries relatively fast(not super quick, I hope you get what I mean).
This bottle is very tiny and it is worth every penny. The only thing I hate about this is the packaging. The cap can be really hard to remove.
That's it. What are the products you are loving right now?I would love to hear from you. Godbless everyone.. :D
Hi guys! The hall of shame represents the worst products that I have tried last year. They are in this list because these products did not work for me or some just fail in shade selection and other criteria.
Chanel Mascara Base Beaute I was thrilled (to the bones haha) when I got this. I told myself finally my first mascara base and it is CHANEL!! I remembered during my college years I went crazy with Maybelline XXL Mascara. Anyone remembers this? The dual ended mascara where you get the normal mascara on one end and the other was a base. I love that so much!! Anyways never be deceived with the brand. What it does? Yes it lengthened my lashes however it was very clumpy my lashes looked like lumpy spider legs. (awkward!!) I am not a fan of this look because I wanted volumized but well separated lashes. It does not hold my curls either. So much of having a Chanel mascara (at least when someone asks me,what is it? I could loudly say OH IT IS CHANEL..hahaha), I would rather buy korean cosmetics that carries mascara base or those mascaras with fibre.
Professional Touch Styling Mousse I was looking for this particular V05 hair mousse (the one that can be used with iron curlers..) at Watsons which is unfortunately unavailable at that moment. The only hair mousse that caught my eye was this. This only costs 149 pesos. I bet now you know why I bought it. It was the cheapest hair mousse! This product does not do anything at all. It says extra hold but id did not curled my hair. It did not even hold my hair. It absolutely did nothing!
Pure Beauty Super Brightening Eye Gel Ok. With its name, I was expecting that it will brighten my eyes, remove the puffiness and dark circles with regular use. Guess what? It also did not nothing. I religiously used it every night and before I put make up on.
SanSan Concealer Initially, I love this concealer! A lot! However, the shades are very limited. I got this in olive and it looked way too light on me. Texture, consistency and longevity is really good. I also think that this is the culprit which caused the darkening of my under eyes. I have dark eye bags but it got worse when I started using this.
Ever Bilena Pro Shimmer lipstick The berry rose shade was really nice. It was a close dupe for Barry M shocking pink however rosette just had to be thrown to the trash bin! I bought this on sale for 60 pesos. It was one of the new lip products of Ever Bilena at that time. When I swatched rosette, it was a gorgeous coral pink shade. Nothing I have ever seen, very unique color. Then I tried it on my lips when I went home, Ughhh!!! Worst lip product ever.. This is not exaggeration but truth. It has this gritty texture and the smell was horrible. It was like plastic. It won't even blend on my lips. It looks streaky when applied. I contacted Ever Bilena about this but they did not respond. I really thought I got an expired product but I read from a blogger that she did not like rosette too.
ELF Essentials lipsticks You all know how I love ELF products. I think this is one of the cheapest makeup brand that produces good quality products. These are the 1$ lipsticks. I got gypsy which is a very beautiful deep purple pink shade and seductive which is a beautiful medium neutral pink. The pigmentation is really good. The downside? They are super drying on my lips and the lipsticks themselves are also dry. I had to reapply more lipbalm than usual when I use these. I have read a lot of good reviews about this products. Perhaps, my lips was just too dry for these lipsticks. :C
Go Natural Lip Sugar Scrub Apply petroleum jelly on your lips and scrub it with sugar and you'll get the same effect when you use this. That's it! Now, I wonder why did I ever bought this?!?
Nichido Minerals Spot Concealer This is very creamy when swatched but when I tried using it on my blemishes it was too dry. It highlighted my blemishes instead of concealing them. However, I like to use it as a liner on my lower lash line to brighten up my eyes but as a concealer -- NAH!
Aido Eye Putti This was my first ever eyelash adhesive 3 years ago. Now, it does not even stick my falsies properly. My falsies kept on falling down when I use this. I found a better alternative which is the Nichido Lash adhesive which only costs 60 pesos.. :D
Ever Original Brow Pencil in Brown The shade has a tiny hint of red and it looked so fake on my natural brows. This looks good on other Filipina Youtube Gurus.. Sigh. :C
Avon Smooth Minerals Mascara This does not hold my curls at all and it even makes my lashes weigh down. It is also very clumpy. It did not lengthen nor created volume on my lashes.
(photo not mine,credits to owner)
Maybelline Clear Smooth All in One Shine Free Foundation I have normal to dry skin and this was way too powdery for me. It was also very cakey and heavy for my taste. I also had a hard time choosing my right shade. I got in sand beige and it was an epic fail.
Etude House Color Me Nude Lip Concealer I bought this on a whim because as you all know I have dark lips. I wanted the MAC lip erase so bad but ended up with this one. It does a good job of concealing my dark lips and my lipstick looks better when I use this but it was very drying. My lips also looked cakey and too much made my lips look weird. It also settles on the fine lines. I would rather use a concealer than buy this one again since this product does not add moisture nor make lipsticks last long. It is just like a normal concealer (only for the lips though). What products did you regret buying last year? Care to share? Godbless everyone.. :D
