I have been hearing a lot of buzz about this local mascara. I was honestly hesitant in purchasing local mascaras because the ones I have tried before are no good at all. Also, I would rather add a few bucks and take home a mascara from my trusted brand, Maybelline. I bought this on a whim after realizing that my favorite Kpalette 1 Day Lash Perm Mascara has dried up after using it for more than three months. My risk appetite was a bit high that day so I bought the mascara without even looking at the formula. Haha!! Oh well, the red slim tube is something I fell in love with at the first time I saw it. It look so sleek that you will not even say that it is from a local brand.
The bristles is a made out of plastic/rubber. It one of the longest mascara brush that I have ever used.I find it very easy to use and maneuver. I can apply mascara even in the inner and outer corner of my eyes with a breeze. The slim brush also makes application on the lower lashes easy. The mascara delivers a very pigmented black shade once applied. This mascara has a wet formula which is quite disappointing. I prefer using mascaras with drier formulas because they work well with my short and sparse lashes.
With 2-3 coats of the mascara
I noticed that this mascara lengthens my lashes pretty well. It also separates my lashes with one - two coats, however, this mascara tends to clump when you apply more than two coats. As evidenced by the photo above, you can see that instead of adding volume to my lashes it created a spider leg like effect on my lashes.
The Good:
Very affordable for 225 pesos
Locally available
The black shade is very pigmented
The slim brush makes mascara application very easy on both upper and lower lashes. Due to its slim wand, I can apply mascara on hard to reach areas like the inner corners.
It lengthens my lashes (not 2x the length of my lashes as this mascara claims).
Despite its wet formula, it can hold my curl for 3-4 hours (not whole day) and it surprisingly does not weigh down my lashes
Smudge proof and water proof
It does not flake.
The Bad:
This mascara takes forever to dry because of its wet formula.
It clumps big time after the second coat.
I have a hard time removing it. Even my all time favorite Ponds cold cream can not remove this mascara easily.
It takes time to dry. I have to prevent myself from blinking until it dries or else, I would end up looking like a raccoon.
With Fashion 21 Mascara and tight line on the right eye
Can you see the difference?
Overall, this is is the best LOCAL mascara I have tried. Despite its tendency to clump my lashes , I actually like this product because it is very affordable, it holds my curl for hours and it lengthens my lashes well.
Our fast-glide formula keeps lashes smooth, even. Technologically advanced micro- bristles evenly apply from root to tip. Rigid core loads big, sleek volume instantly. Explosive, Clump-free volume with 8x bigger lashes. I have seen this macara countless of times from different Youtube Gurus. They have been raving about this nonstop. When it comes to mascara, Maybelline is the brand I would always turn to. I love the Maybelline Stiletto and would love to try the famous "Falsies Mascara". I got this mascara for 300 pesos online from bonmarche. Here is her facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bonmarchepage?fref=ts
The packaging of this mascara is indeed eye catching. The blue and pink combination looks really different and jovial. The first thing I noticed is the wand of this mascara. I have a bad experience with plastic bristles like the one from Revlon Photoready Mascara. Click here for my full review of Revlon Photoready. Luckily, the wand does not prick my eye. The brush has short and long flexible bristles which makes application akin to combing the lashes.
I find the brush a bit too big for my taste but it can definitely deliver.
The formula of this mascara is wet and the consistency is a bit thick. Despite this, it feels light and does not weigh down my lashes.
My lashes are short and sparse. I like a mascara that can give my lashes volume and length all at the same time.
After three coats of the Maybelline Rocket Mascara (Take note, I did not curl my lahes prioer to macara application)
I got the shade Very Black. True to its shade, the color is truly deep black. The intense black shade can instantly open up my eyes without the use of eyeliners. It lengthens my lashes really well but not dramatically. Curl my lashes and holds the curl for hours. The downside? It does not volumize my lashes really well rather it separates my lashes and create pointy spider legs lashes. This mascara dries quickly than I expected. It claims to be clump free but not for me. Two coats lengthened my lashes but I needed to apply three or more coats to achieve volume. I love letting the product dry for a while before applying it on my lashes. this technique makes the formula drier and creates feathery, more volumized and longer lashes. However, doing this technique takes a lot of time in my makeup routine. When applied to my lower lashes, it makes it more visible and luscious. Once dried, it make my lashes a bit crispy but still flexible.
What I love about this mascara:
The intense pigmentation
Curls my lashes and hold my curls quite well
Lengthens my lashes really well
Affordable
No funky smell
What I dislike about it:
I am not a fan of the wet formula.
It clump my lashes after three coats (be careful in application).
Not available locally.
It does not volumize my lashes that well.
Surprisingly, I do not hate this mascara at all. I actually like it. Just plainly like it and not in love with it. I do get a lot of compliments when I wear it. My sorority sister even asked me why my lashes are long lately. However, clump free application is a pain in the butt. I recommend this mascara to those with long and thick lashes.
That's it.
We all know that Multiply has been down for almost three weeks now. Please do visit Bon Marche's new site for faster transaction.
If there is a brand that I will name Brand of the Year last 2012, it will definitely be K-Palette. It can not be gainsaid that all the products I have tried from K-Palette have become my favorites. I recently receive these goodies from K-Palette. Let me give you a quick preview of the newest products from K-Palette.
The first one is the K-Palette 1 Day Lash Perm Volume Curl Mascara in Black. This costs 895 pesos. I am so excited to try this because the mascara I failed to try the mascara given to me last year due because of the tragedy. I will be using up my Maybelline Rocket Mascara before opening this one.
K-Palette 24Hr Real Lasting Pencil
This is definitely something that I would see myself falling in love with. This liner is both smudge proof and waterproof. Sounds like "the perfect liner" is finally here. Don't you think? This costs 795 pesos.
They also have the new formulation of the improved formulation of the 24Hr Real Lasting Eyeliner. This liner still retails for 795 pesos.
I am so excited to try these products. I really hope K-Palette will release 1day Lipstick Tattoo!!!
That's it! Which of the products would you love me to review first?
This latter part of this year is a mascara craze for me. I received three mascaras from K-Palette and Fairy Drops.I bought this Revlon mascara because of the good reviews from US bloggers. Also, I was really curious with the 3D Volume thingy. Plus, the fact that this mascara came from the Photoready line made it more interesting.
In the Philippines, this mascara costs 750 pesos. I was shocked to learn this. I told myself that this must be worth every penny if it costs this much. Well, I did not buy this at the local counters. I am not that dumb to spend 750 pesos when I can buy it at more than half the price. I got this on ebay for 300 pesos with shipping. I have it blackest black.
This mascara has a wet formula. As you all know, I veer away from mascaras with wet formula because they tend to weigh down my lashes. Surprisingly, this mascara has a good curling quality. Most of the time, I use it alone without the need of curling my lashes. It can hold the curl for about 3-4 hours or even more. The pigmentation is good but not as incredible as the L'oreal Volumious Carbon Black. Please refer to my review of L'oreal Mascara here. This mascara separates my lashes really well but it does not give my lashes my desired volume with just two-three coats. The problem with this mascara is that 5-6 coats can definitely make my lashes clump. I have to be really careful in applying this to avoid clumping and it just takes a lot of time in my makeup routine. Clumping issue aside, this does a good job of lengthening my lashes. HOwver, I do not like using this mascara on my lower lashes. It just make my lower lashes look like spider legs which is too unnatural for everyday wear. I ain't gonna sport a Twiggy look on a daily basis you know. This mascara can be easily removed with soap and water or makeup remover.
The bristles of the brush does a good job of separating my lashes but I fin the bristles too stiff. To the point that I could not even apply this mascara close to my lash line because the bristles tends to poke my lash line like crazy. This is the first time I have such an experience this with a mascara brush. Also, I noticed that the wand does not pick up the product fairly well. Most of the time, I need to scoop out the product using the tip of the wand. Well, the mascara brush is not that bad because it can apply the product really well on hard to reach areas like the lashes in the inner corner of the eyes. Here is a before and after shot using this mascara:
Without mascara
With Revlon Photoready 3D Volume
It did a great job of lengthening and separating my lashes. Do I love it? No. I gave it about two weeks and I just gave up on it. I really wanted to make it work but sadly, it did not. I think that it will suit people with thicker lashes but not those with sparse lashes like mine. Have you tried this mascara? Share your thoughts on the comment box please.:) Currently, I am using Fairydrops mascara. I have to admit I love it! It is definitely HG material. Review coming soon. :) Godbless everyone.
Hello MLI Readers!! I have been super busy for the last two weeks. I will try blogging as often as I could. I got these products from the mail last week. I can't wait to blog about these goodies. I know I have been mia most of the time in the blogging world but I am finally learning how to cope with my new super busy schedule. I have a handful of products to review and mostly are products that I bought with my own money.
Great news! Fairydrops has finally arrived in Manila. I have heard about this brand from Eki, the pretty blogger and Youtube guru, a year or two years ago. I was in awe watching her review about Fairydrops BB Cream. The coverage look so nice and full. I received this package from Cheryl and she was kind enough to send me Fairydrops and K-Palette mascara. Thank you Cheryl!!
Are you also intrigued with the name of this mascara? 1 day Lash Perm is so enticing don't you think? The fact that it is from K-Palette makes it more special for me. I was introduced to the K-Palette brand this year and I must say that all the products I have tried are absolutely great!
Papulex is a new brand in the market. This brand is targeted for people with acne prone skin. My brother is using the these products and he is surely loving the cleansing gel. He told me that it feels so great on the skin, smells so good and it does not leave his skin dry and tight.
Til' my next blog post! I promise I will try posting the giveaway I have been talking about asap. :)
I got this as a gift from my bestfriend who currently lives in Canada. She asked me what I liked and I immediately thought of this mascara. A lot of Youtube Gurus in the US have been raving about this. This was my first time to try a mascara from L'oreal and I am quite apprehensive to try it. However, with a lot of buzz from the youtube community who would not be curious to try this too? Let's cut the chase and let's get started with the review. According to L'oreal: Dramatic volume effect. Separates & builds every lash. Patented volume maximizing brush. L'Oreal presents Carbon Black Voluminous Volume Building Mascara. The mascara wand looks like any other mascara wand in the market. However, I noticed that the bristles are quite thick, thus, this wand picks up a lot of product. I would often brush off the excess on the mouth of the tube. Otherwise, it can easily turn my lashes into clump city. It takes forever to remove the excess product on the brush. The shade is indeed carbon black. The color intensity and pigmentation is without question. This the blackest mascara I have ever tried and you could easily see the proof on the pictures I provided below. This gives my lashes that much needed volume. Just 2-3 swipes and it can makes my lashes look fuller and more luscious. It can also lengthen my lashes a bit but not comparable to the length that Maybelline Stiletto mascara can give. This did not sting my eyes. However, I noticed that from the time that I have used this beyond the three month rule, this made my eyes water almost all day. I did not knew that this was the primary culprit in making my eyes water. I only noticed it Right when I stopped using it. After switching to Revlon Photoready, I did not experience watery eyes anymore. Oh no!!!! I should have strictly adhered to the three month rule! This mascara has a wet and thick formula. When you have sparse lashes like I do, drier formula of mascara works better. Believe me! I also learned this from Michelle Phan in one of her videos! Aside from removing the excess product on the brush, I also tend to wait a few seconds before applying this on my lashes to have make the formula a bit tacky. This works well on my lower lashes too. With this mascara, my lower lashes look more noticeable. I got the one that is not waterproof. Despite this fact, it did not smudge on me at all. I use a good makeup remover to wipe off the mascara on my lashes, the product is too pigmented that it can not be easily removed with water and soap. This is also fragrance free. Also, this did not make my lashes too stiff and overtly hard to the point of easy breakage. This can keep my lashes curled for almost half a day. This mascara is actually great minus the fact that I find the formula too thick and wet. I really think that finding a great mascara is very relative because like skin types, our lashes have different volume and length. With my sparse lashes, I still prefer my Maybelline Stiletto and Missha 4d Mascara over this. Sadly, this is not locally available. I saw ebay shops selling this mascara for 500 pesos.
What I love about this mascara:
1. It gives my lashes great volume.
2. The color is very intense and highly pigmented.
3. It does not smudge. (take note I have dry skin)
4. It works well with my lower lashes too.
5. It can curl my lashes without the use of my curler.
6. It can keep my curl in place.
What I do not like about this mascara:
1. I am not a fan of its wet formula.
2. Excessive application can clump my lashes big time.
3. It takes forever to apply. I have to be extra careful in applying this mascara to prevent it from smearing (because it has a wet formula) and to prevent my lashes from clumping.
4. Not locally available.
My bare lashes
With L'oreal Voluminous Mascara I did not curl my lashes here.
With L'oreal Voluminous Mascara I did not curl my lashes here. Godbless everyone!
Aside from buying foundations, getting the right mascara for my lashes lands no. 2 on my hard to buy list. A mascara is either a good buy or a waste of money for me. Most mascaras have wet formulas and they just do not simply work with my lashes. Although, my lashes have grown since I started using Sophia Lash Serum, buying mascaras have been harder since my lashes now weigh a bit heavier than before. I need mascaras that can hold up the curl really well.. I bought this mascara due to Say, the famous youtube Filipina Guru. :D I was actually having a very long discussion with the sales lady at the In2it counter on whether this mascara is really good. I wanted to get the mascara with fibre but the saleslady insisted that this is way better. Of course, I was persuaded. She told me that this is one of their best sellers.. Hmmm.. I had this mascara for over a month. Am I impressed with it? Read my posts further to know the answer.
The packaging says all the good things about this mascara.
This is affordable too. :D Maybelline mascaras ranges from 300 up to 600 pesos (I think).
The wand is really tiny enough for me to maneuver it. It can coat hard to reach lashes on the corner of the eyes and does a nice job in coating my lower lashes.
The mascara shade is very black. Indeed, the color is very pigmented. It is simple jet black on my lashes and opens up my eyes really well. The wand is really nice too. I can apply the product with such a breeze. It also does separate my lashes well but it does not add volume at all. I find it very clumpy too. There are moments where I can apply this mascara without my lashes getting too clumpy but that takes me a lot of time. Then when it dries, my lashes feel so stiff. There are times that I feel that they can break easily when I recurl them. I have this bad habit of recurling my lashes with curl lash every now and then. And yes, my lashes at times are cut off. This mascara has a wet formula and it definitely does not dry fast. What I definitely love about this is that with just one coat my lower lashes look so pretty. It also does a nice job of lengthening my lashes too. This is definitely waterproof and smudge proof once dried. I do not agree that it is easy to remove. I lost a lost like 5 pcs. of lashes when I tried removing it with my Pure Beauty Clenasing Oil. I can only removed this guilt free and fear free with my all time favorite mascara remover -- Ponds Cold Cream.
See how clumpy my lashes gets with this mascara.
Bravo to the lengthening properties. Look at my lower lashes. They became more prominent right? Just one coat will do the job.
Just too clumpy for my taste!
Do I like it? NO. I love mascaras that make my lashes fuller and longer all at the same time. I do not want spider legs lashes at all. They look so unnatural. Yay!! However, this might work with other girls who have short lashes because it does create an illusion of longer lashes and with its super black pigmentation it can really open up your eyes.
Would you believe that my current favorite mascara only costs 40 pesos? Yes!!!
A reader of mine told me that this mascara sent to me is very pricey but the one she has only costs 50 pesos and it is sold in 168 malls! I was like Weh di nga!?? hahaha I love the Yanqina Mascara so much that I was in the constant search for its looks alike. I found one and it only costs me 40 pesos.. The brand name was heng fang and I researched about it and it was a china made cosmetics. They have a website too. The HengFang Mascara upon opening ahs a weird strong scent but it went away after several days of using it. It is my fave mascara as of the moment. Will I buy it again? Yes. And for those who would tell me that CHina Made Products are scary check you makeup, they are probably China Made too like most of my maybelline and Nyx products!! Anyways, I just want to be clear that I am not prodding anyone to but this cheap mascara. :D
I'm BACK!!!! haha.. I want to thank everyone who helped me get through the bar exams. I will do a separate post about my bar exams experience. wahh.. I actually want to have a temporary amnesia for a while. I don't want to think of my mistakes. I just want to pray and believe.
Moving on, I received this mascara months ago. I am very sorry for the delayed review of this. When I got this mascara, I hurriedly tried it on. I was a bit disappointed. Why? Look at this picture:
It made my lashes look like spider's feet. right? It weighed down my lashes too. The next thing I know, I threw this mascara in my drawer and did not dare use it at all. I have short and sparse lashes. I want a mascara that lengthens and gives volume to my lashes.
I suddenly realized, that although this mascara has a wet formula, it also has a thick consistency. Can you see? It seems as if it is infused with fibers. I tried it again. The results? REMARKABLE!
STEP 1 of the Mascara:
Step 2 of the Mascara:
(my skin looks all dry and wrinkled!! wahhh..)
The first step of the Yanqina mascara just enhanced my natural lashes and it did a great job of separating and defining my lashes. When I applied the Step 2, it made me look like I am wearing falsies! YEY
How did I achieve this sky high lashes (or tirik na tirik lashes?haha) ?
I simply let the Yanqina mascara to dry before applying another coat and loads more coat.. haha
That's it. Plus I followed Eki's tips in one of her videos.
The yanqina volumizer mascara costs $20.85. Quite pricey for my taste.
After 2 steps, Saturates lashes with the richest black and thick and delivered maximum payoff.Just one product give you what you want in the best mascara.Lasts all day without any flaking, smudging, smearing or streaking and water-resistant.Even water-resistant, yet easy to remove
I was really confused when I got this mascara. I thought that it has two wands. After a while, I just realized how dumb I was. Of course the rule is: no two things can occupy the same space at the same time.I know you are also wondering why is there a step 1 and step two, if there is only one mascara product and only one wand too. There is a huge difference in using step 1 or step two and using both steps. :D
When you use the step 1. The mascara wand is not loaded with the product because the second wand filters and removes the excess product. When you use the step 2, obviously, it is loaded with more product.
My take on this mascara? I simply love it.
Again, it all boils down to proper application.
Why I love the Yanqina Mascara?
It made my natural lashes looks as if they are falsies. It lengthens and volumizes my lashes gorgeously. This is very evident on my pictures right?
It can hold my curl for hours.
It is very easy to remove.
What I do not like about the Yanqina Mascara?
I cannot use this mascara and achieve the results that I want when I am in a hurry.
