Review: MAC Pro Longwear Concealer

I lost count of the times, I tried to save for a MAC concealer but ended up getting a cheaper one. I got this on my birthday. Being new to the MAC counter, I completely relied to their SA. Thank goodness, Shawi, was very accommodating and friendly.  I asked him initially the price of this concealer and he told me that it cost 1000 pesos. The price point is quite reasonable plus I have been dying to try out their concealers so I immediately asked him to get me an NC 35 because that it my shade. He immediately countered with a suggestion that I should get NW25 instead. He told me that NC35 is too yellow and NW25 is perfect for the under eyes. Despite being doubtful, I heed his advice.
The MAC Pro Longwear concealer is housed in a glass bottle with pump. Its weight is 9ml or .30 fl oz. This tiny bottle is perfect for travel and I can easily slip this in my makeup kit without taking much space. The pump dispenser is really hard to control. I usually end up getting more product.

Let me tell you my first experience with this product.. On my first few usagges of this product, I always end up getting a cakey finish. Oh boy, I looked like having a wrinkly and masky under eye. There was a time I had to redo my whole makeup twice because I just can't make this product work. After a while, I learned that I should use it sparingly and pat it evenly and fast on my under eye. Contrary to its dry finish,  I should let my under eye cream set before applying this product. It does not mix very well with moisturizers or under eye cream at all. This can be attributed to the fact that the concealer has a dry finish.
Texture is very creamy and the consistency is just right - not too runny, not too thick. It blends very well on my under eye but it dries relatively quick. What I do is to warm up the product with my fingers and pat it on my under eye in gentle manner. Usually, I love going with two layer of concealer to completely cover my under eye circles but this one is a saver. I just need one layer for everyday wear and I am good to go. The coverage is medium but buildable.
Once blended the concealer stays put for hours. This can last on me the whole day, however, I have a bad habit of rubbing my eyes so I end up with rubbed out concealer either on the inner or outer corner of my eyes. What I love about this concealer is the wide range of colors to choose from. Also, this concealer photographs beautifully even with flash.

This is probably the best concealer I have tried that matches my skin tone perfectly said by side with the Collection Longwear Concealer.

What do you think?
I would also like to try their studio finish concealer. I think that will perfectly suit my dry skin. This concealer is perfect for those with normal-oily skin.

  1. Love the before and after photo truly shows what the product is capable of! I rub my eyes as well and have the problem of concealer ending up in the corners, so annoying but I can't break the habit haha.

  2. nice pick! it's actually one of their best selling concealers. I have normal skin, and I'm using the MAC Select Cover Up Concealer, it's one of faves since it has a thin consistency, very easy to blend, and does not cake on my under eye area. ^_^
