The fuss over this foundation seemed endless. From the time this foundation came out to the market until now, raves have been pouring hailing this foundation as their Holy Grail. This has got to be the most popular drugstore foundation in my opinion. If you are an old reader of my blog, you would know that I have this strong penchant for foundations - liquid, cream, powder... you name it. This started when I was starting to explore makeup way back in college. When I heard about this foundation, I was determined to have one! Being so poorita way back, I asked my mom to purchase me one!! The sad news, I got the wrong shade!! Then, came law school and I decided once again to purchase this foundation and once again I got the wrong one. After law school, I am still very curious with this foundation and I just can not find my right shade at the local Revlon counters!!! I finally figured out to make my MAC Studiofix Liquid Foundation as my reference. There is Christine of Temptalia to thank to and other blogger and Youtube Gurus because I finally found my perfect shade. In my research my closest match are Warm Golden and Golden Beige. Some bloggers mix their Colorstay to get their perfect shade. Unfortunately, Golden Beige or Warm Golden are not available locally. Well, online shops are something we, beauty enthusiasts have to be thankful for, right?
Thanks to Bon Marche for giving me a Revlon Colorstay in Golden Beige for review purposes.
My search for my perfect shade is finally over. Golden beige suits my NC35 skin tone very well. I have been using this foundation for than two months now and I must say this is one of the best I have tried. Take it from a foundation addict like. The consistency of this foundation runs a bit thicker than Mac Studiofix'. It blends well on my skin (not too yellow but it works for me) and does not dry out too quickly. I love using my fingers in applying the product but a flat top brush can create that seamless look. The coverage is beyond fantastic. It can cover my redness, dark under eye circles and pimple scars in just one layer!!! I am not exaggerating this one!! You can refer to my photos below for reference. The longevity? Absolutely great! It can last 6-7 hours on me without budging. Oh my goodness no need for primers especially for those with dry skin. This is the only liquid foundation that can withstand the humid weather in Manila. I just need to blot my tzone area once or twice the whole day. It makes my skin look dewy at the end of the day without looking washed out. It can also keep my foundation and concealer on my under eyes longer. I also did not experience any breakouts using this foundation.

I dislike the heavy glass bottle of this foundation. I always feel like I will end up breaking it. It is so messy to work with because it does not have a pump and the bottle opening is quite huge. The foundation feels a bit heavy and I definitely do not recommend it for everyday wear. The bottle does not talk about the foundation being non comodogenic, so I do not presume that it is. Being a heavy duty foundation, I think that it has tendency to clog the pores and can even break one out. It has a weird paint scent to it. Luckily, this foundation does not oxidize on me but it definitely gives a slight white cast on pictures taken with flash. Getting the right shade can be hard especially if you have medium skin tone with yellow undertones because not all shades are available locally.
Here are my before and after shots using this foundation.

without foundation |

With only one layer of foundation (I think used more than two sized amount) |
|
I set it with FS foundation in Chino. |
Side by side comparison of the previous photos.
I definitely love this foundation especially for a day time event and I highly recommend this to those who are looking for an affordable heavy duty foundation. You can buy Revlon Colorstay at Bon Marche for only 500 pesos.
Have a blessed day everyone!

It seems that drugstore makeup have been leveling up their products recently. Revlon has been in the upper echelon in the drugstore arena because of the new and drool worthy products that they have been recently launching in the market. I am impressed with Revlon Foundations lately. I have tried their whipped and mousse foundations. However, up until now, I have not yet bought their infamous Colorstay foundation in the right shade. I do not know why Philippines does not carry the shade Golden Beige. When sis Juju of Kitshop offered me this foundation for review purposes, I could not say no. I really wanted to try a foundation that claims to be ''nearly naked'' on the skin. Also, I have that strong inkling that once this foundation is out in the market, the price will definitely be twice as that of the US Price.
I got this last two weeks ago. Honestly, it was not love at first try. I got the shade medium beige which I think is perfect for my NC35 skin. Too perfect that when I used my fingers to apply this foundation, I think I applied too much like 3 layers. Why? Because I felt that the foundation just disappeared and just melted on my skin. I know I should get thrilled, right? On the contrary, I was utterly dismayed. I was used to wearing foundations with medium coverage or foundations that have a tad bit lighter color than my skin's. Thus, when I first tried it. I found nothing spectacular about it. I used my fingers in applying this foundation and I was about to give up and write a purely negative blog post about this foundation, then, I tried applying it my Charm Stippling Brush. And to my surprise, the foundation applied flawlessly on my face. This is the only liquid foundation that works best on my skin with the use of a brush but I still use my fingers to blend out the foundation. |

I got the shade in Medium Beige which is perfect for those with strong yellow tones. |

When blended
The Product Review
The foundation is housed in a glass bottle which looks very neat. It does not come with a pump dispenser and I find the bottle opening too big for a foundation with a liquidy texture. The texture is runny but not watery. It is very easy to blend and applies smoothly on the skin. Like what it claims, this foundation is truly nearly naked on the skin. It feels super lightweight, lighter than all the bb creams I have tried. It almost felt like I do not have any foundation on. This is great for everyday wear. This did not clog my pores nor caused my skin any rashes. Coverage is light to medium but not medium per se. I hope you get I mean. You can get away with 1-2 layers. 3 layers is too much and applying 3 or more layers will not make a big difference in terms of coverage. It does great job of giving my face an even and flawless finish. You can refer to photos below. It reduces redness on my skin but did nothing remarkable in covering my dark circles. It gave me a natural finish or a clean look giving my skin a slight dewy glow. This is not good in oil control especially on humid days. It stays on my face four hours provided I set it with powder. I tried The best thing about this foundation, is that this is the only foundation which I can use without moisturizer underneath without highlighting the dryness of my skin. It blends very well on the skin even without the help of a moisturizer, primer or sunblock. |
This is my face without any makeup. As evidenced by this photo, I have uneven and blotchy skin.
|
I use a stippling brush in applying this foundation. I have yet to try applying this with a foundation brush. |
|
This foundation has SPF 20 but look no white cast!!!! Great Jodb Revlon (Photo Taken with flash) |
|
My dark circles are not covered really well this foundation made my skin look flawless right? |

This is me after 8-9 hours using this foundation, I used Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder on the right side of my face and Palgantong Theatrical Powder on the right side. I was doing an experiment to compare the staying and oil control power of Ben Nye Powder compared to other finishing powders.
Overall, I think this foundation is perfect for everyday wear. I reach for this more than my BB Creams. I do not recommend it to people who wants extra coverage but it is a must try for those who loves lightweight foundations.
This foundation costs only 500 pesos at http://kitshop.multiply.com/.
